Mutant Mobs is an add-on that aims to recreate the classic Mutant Creatures mod on Java by thehippomaster, along with a few changes of my own to make them feel "more vanilla". (Yes the animations are not at all vanilla-consistent I know shush.)
It also aims to one day expand from the original roster, by adding mutation forms of other mobs. (No, animals will NOT have mutation forms.)
Mutants can spawn naturally in the world. However, they're quite rare to encounter.
(Note: Explosions from this add-on don't use vanilla explosions for a few of my own reasons, which is ironic, I know. In short, they cannot grief.)
Mobs:
Mutant Skeleton

"A skeleton with its own height and archery skills greatly improved, being able to fire high-velocity heavy arrows that carry multiple negative effects. (Though it may not be that great at aiming...)"
HP: 220 (heals 2 HP back every 5 second when it is nighttime)
Detection Range: 32 (80 on aggro)
Attack(s):
- Swing: Deals 8 damage, knocking entities back greatly upon hit.
- Constrict: Deals 14 damage, sending entities flying upwards upon hit.
- Shoot: Pulls its longbow to shoot a heavy arrow, which deals 18 damage, along with inflicting one of these three debuffs: Slowness II, Poison II, Weakness II.
- Burst Shot: Does a jump forwards or backwards dependant on its distance between itself and the target, then pulls its longbow to shoot a burst of 17 heavy arrows, all of which deal 18 damage, along with inflicting one of these three debuffs: Slowness II, Poison II, Weakness II.
On death, the Mutant Skeleton's body parts will shake individually, before they explode all at once and get flung everywhere, dealing 5 damage on contact.
After that, its body parts are yours to claim.
Mutant Creeper

"A creeper with notably enhanced, crooked, lengthy legs and neck. Its explosion power has been greatly altered and upgraded due to the mutation, along with its agility and flexibility. (It is also a very terrible mother.)"
HP: 180
Detection Range: 32 (64 on aggro)
Attack(s):
- Headbutt: Deals 6 damage, knocking entities back upon hit.
- Jump: Does a jump with strength depending on the target's distance to it, in an attempt to land on them. Upon landing, causes an explosion that deals 24 damage on direct hit, with 4 being the minimum. (When in charged state, it is 38 and 10, respectively.)
- Heal: Blinks five times, with the end of the fifth blink having a 5/6 chance to heal 40 HP, and a 1/6 chance to charge itself up with lightning if the target is near, otherwise it still heals.
- Summon: Births 4 to 6 Creeper Minions.
On death, the Mutant Creeper resorts to lighting itself up for one last giant explosion, dealing 32 damage on direct hit, with 8 being the minimum. (When in charged state, it is 46 and 14, respectively.)
After the explosion, a Creeper Minion Egg will appear as your reward.
Creeper Minion

"Children of the Mutant Creeper. These little critters know nothing but to follow their mother's order on birth, and that is to explode her enemies to bits and pieces. A cruel life they have to live."
HP: 6 (40 if friendly)
Detection Range: 32 (64 on aggro, only for the hostile version)
Attack(s):
- Explode: Ignites self to explode and deals 8 damage on direct hit, with 1 being the minimum. (When in charged state, it is 12 and 2, respectively.)
(If tamed/is friendly, it will not die from the explosion.)
If friendly and has not been owned yet, can be tamed with Gunpowder with a 1/4 chance of success.
Blocks/Items:
Chemical X

"A dangerous substance capable of enhancing a mob's most notable traits. (Please for the love of everything do NOT try to drink it. It tastes gross.)"
Can be thrown by right-clicking/tap and hold. Upon landing or hitting a mob, it does a small splash that has a 3/10 chance to instantly mutate a mob (assuming it has a mutation form), or a 7/10 chance to fail and deal 10 magic damage to them.
Recipe:
Can be made by putting Awkward Potion(s) into the Brewing Stand with Crying Obsidian as the material.
Mutant Skeleton Armor





"A set of armor crafted from the remains of the Mutant Skeleton. Fragile as they may be, they can greatly enhance your movement, allow you to withstand projectile damage, and increase velocity of your arrows."
Skull: Does nothing, gives 2 armor points, unbreakable.
Chestplate: Absorbs all projectile damage, gives 5 armor points, has a durability of 241.
Leggings: Gives permanent Jump Boost II, gives 4 armor points, has a durability of 226.
Boots: Gives permanent Speed I, gives 1 armor point, has a durability of 196.
Full Set Bonus: Boosts the velocity of arrows and bone arrows shot by 2x, along with giving permanent Poison and Fatal Poison immunity.

Mutated Bone Bow

"A bow with special utilty of inflicting debuffs similar to the Mutant Skeleton's heavy arrows. However, it seems to require special arrows..."
Durability: 601
Shoots bone arrows by releasing after charging it, like how a normal Bow would be used. However, its damage is always the same, as it does not scale with duration of charge. Its velocity is still dependant on the charge time.
The bow requires Sharpened Bone to shoot. Its arrows deal 4 damage, along with inflicting one of these three debuffs: Slowness I, Poison I, Weakness I.
Unlike the normal Bow, it has two enchantments changed in terms of function:
- Power: Increases amount of arrows shot along with arrow count consumption based on the enchantment level (1 + enchantment level).
- Punch: Increases velocity by +0.15 based on the enchantment level.
Recipes:


Creeper Minion Egg


"An egg that once belonged to the Mutant Creeper, now rightfully yours to handle with care. Or you can just, uh, break it... I guess."
Can be picked up with Silk Touch, or can be incubated by shift right-clicking/tapping the egg. (Once incubated, you can no longer pick it up.)
Takes 3 in-game days for the egg to hatch once the incubation process starts. Hatches into a friendly version of the Creeper Minion.
Alternatively, breaking it will either result in a 3/4 chance of dropping from 26 to 52 Gunpowder, or a 1/4 chance to drop the Creeper Shard.
Creeper Shard

"A fragment of the Creeper Minion Egg. Yields a powerful explosion, but with a cost..."
Damage: 4
Unbreakable
Cannot be enchanted
Upon right-clicking/tap and hold, it generates an explosion with the strengry based on its durability. After usage, durability is drained down to 1.
To recharge, you melee mobs with it. It has a 1/4 chance to regain 1 durability, but also a 1/2 chance for the wielder to take 1 magic damage for each hit done.
