Something changes the first time you load Maple Bear Apocalypse into a world. The sky still looks familiar, but the ground does not stay yours for long. Days tick forward whether you are ready or not. Small bears become serious ones. A strange white powder creeps through the land. Storms roll in. And somewhere out there, the world is learning how to push back against every trick you have ever used to feel safe in Minecraft.

We are Litbolt123 and Compoohter, and this is our Bedrock survival invasion addon — Maple Bear Apocalypse (you will also see M.B.A on the packs). We built it for players who want tension that grows over time, not a one-off boss fight. If you have been waiting for a reason to start a fresh world with friends, this is that post. Don’t do drugs kids… — that line is part of the tone of the project, not a lecture. Think unsettling mystery first, harder truths later.

What is Maple Bear Apocalypse?

Maple Bear Apocalypse is a Minecraft Bedrock Edition addon (behavior pack + resource pack). It is not a custom map. You add it to a normal survival world and the invasion begins.

Progress is tied to world days. Early on you meet tiny Maple Bears. By around day 4, infected bears show up and the infection loop becomes real. Day 8 brings heavier threats. Day 13 ramps pressure again. Day 20 is where the sky and the stone under your feet stop being reliable — flying bears, mining bears that path toward you underground, and torpedo bears that punish sky bases. Between those milestones you are surviving, researching, and deciding how much of the white powder you are willing to touch.

The core loop is simple to describe and hard to master: stay alive, learn what is happening, fight back when you can. Infection can come from the powder or from bear attacks. Cures and immunity exist, but the world does not forgive carelessness. Snow storms can stack and overlap. Dusted ground and infected overworld biomes spread the atmosphere of a world that is being rewritten. If you are lucky or prepared enough, Emulsifier machines can help you reclaim small pockets of space — but they are not a permanent escape hatch.

How it is meant to feel

We are not trying to tell you the whole story in a Patreon post. Most of what you learn should come from play — especially through the Powdery Journal, a codex that unlocks entries as you discover things. No cutscene railroad. The horror is progressive: early days feel weird and curious; later days feel heavier, especially if you lean into the powder when you probably should not.

There is no true safe base. Hide underground and mining bears can come for you. Build in the sky and flying or torpedo bears answer that. Run to the Nether or End and you will still find Maple Bears on native terrain — Nether bears adapt to fire over time, and the End skews toward aerial threats as days climb. A few overworld biomes stay relatively calmer by design, but this is survival, not a vacation seed.

We like the idea that the world remembers. Die while infected and something of you can remain behind in the world. Corruption, counting, and observation show up in small ways if you are paying attention. You do not need to catch every detail on day one. That is the point.

Picture this: your first real storm at night, wind and powder in the air, shelter suddenly mattering. Or the moment you realize something is digging toward your bunker from below. That is the energy we are aiming for.

The feeling of dread

We are not making a jumpscare machine. The dread in Maple Bear Apocalypse is slow, ambient, and personal — the kind that sits in your stomach after you log off. Time is not on your side. World days advance whether you are geared or not. You can feel the calendar in your bones: yesterday’s problem bear is today’s baseline, and tomorrow adds something you have not met yet. Dread here is anticipation — not “something popped out,” but “something is coming.”

Safety is a lie you tell yourself. Every survival trick has an answer. You finally walled in your base and the ground starts sounding wrong. You moved to the sky and the horizon gets quiet in the wrong way. You fled to another dimension and the bears were already home. The dread is realizing your plan was understood.

The world is watching back. Infected biomes bleed into places you used to call normal. Storms stack on the horizon while you are still deciding whether to risk one more expedition. Ambient sound in corrupted ground. Journal entries that imply more than they say. We want the sense that the invasion is counting — blocks, days, mistakes — even when no bear is on screen.

The powder is the quiet villain. Early on it can feel almost helpful. That is intentional. Dread deepens when you notice you are choosing it — when relief starts to cost more than it gives, and you are not sure whether you are fighting the bears or feeding something worse. We will not spell out the worst of that here. You will feel it before you read it.

Co-op makes it louder. Friends do not just share loot. They share blame. Who touched the snow? Who ran into the storm? Who swore the mining noise was “probably fine”? Knowledge sharing through the Powdery Journal helps the group survive, but it also means everyone knows what everyone should have known. That social tension is part of the horror.

Death is not a full reset. The world can remember you — an infected form left behind, corruption that does not care that you respawned. Dread is seeing your own failure still walking around.

If Maple Bear Apocalypse works the way we want, you will have nights where Minecraft feels like home and hostile at the same time — familiar blocks, wrong rules, and the sense that the map is learning you faster than you are learning it.

What you can play today (v0.9.0-beta.5)

This is a beta. It is playable, dense, and still moving. Here is what is already in the build:

Infection and powder

Minor and major infection paths, cures, and temporary immunity. The white powder is tempting at low levels and punishing if you keep feeding it. We will not spoil the worst tiers here — discover them in the journal.

Bears

A full roster of variants that escalate with days. Mining bears use real pathfinding pressure. The population systems are tuned so the world feels occupied, not empty.

Storms

Multiple storms can be active. Shelter and positioning matter. Recent beta work also eases distant storm effects when no player is near — far storms still matter, but your game should not melt when chaos is happening three valleys away.

World

Infected overworld biomes (large, medium, and small patches) replace many vanilla biomes when world generation allows. You will want the Custom Biomes experiment enabled when you create the world. Dusted dirt and addon snow layers spread the infection visually and mechanically.

Powdery Journal

Search, settings, achievements, daily log flavor, and knowledge sharing — stand near a friend who holds the journal and you can spread what you have learned. Co-op groups feel smarter together.

Dimensions

Nether and End are in play. Do not treat them as permanent escapes.

Server hosts

On the public pack, cheats-gated admin tools exist for storms and spawn helpers — useful for events and testing on a realm, not required for normal survival.

Built for friends

Solo works. Co-op is the heart of the design. Bring one to three friends, split who reads the journal, call out storms, argue about who touched the powder last. If performance gets heavy on a busy realm, the journal includes performance-related options — we would rather you tune than quit.

Where we are headed (vision, not a schedule)

We are building a long arc, not a single weekend gimmick.

Day 25 is the current major victory milestone in the addon today.

Days 50, 75, and 100 are planned spike beats — bigger waves, bigger consequences.

Day 100 is the north star: branching outcomes, lore payoff, and rules that change after the credits roll — the kind of finish that respects how you played, not just whether you cheated the timer.

Infected biomes are meant to feel more oppressive over time as world corruption deepens.

Future content on our list includes bear structures and lairs, a rare raptor-style flying bear, scarred cured animals that stay special instead of reverting to vanilla, and late-game gear with a clean, heroic tone — tools that help you push back after days on the back foot.

Infection pressure already evolves with storms and world state in recent betas — the invasion is not static even before the next big feature drop.

We will share progress here: beta notes, behind-the-scenes thoughts, and honest “what broke this week” updates — not daily noise.

Beta honesty and how to play

Platform: Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.20 or newer

World setup: Enable Custom Biomes when creating a world for infected biome generation. A fresh world is strongly recommended; mixing old chunks and new generation can show ugly seams.
