Lost In Translation

Every vanilla Minecraft string, badly translated 5 times. 13,000+ strings mangled.

Lost in Translation is a Bedrock resource pack that takes every vanilla Minecraft string — item names, entity names, death messages, GUI labels, accessibility text, the lot — and runs it through 5 rounds of bad machine translation. The result is a hilariously broken Minecraft where Villagers are "Nose Trading Person", the Wither is "Three Head Death Boss", spawn eggs are "Birth Point Chicken Baby Shell", and death messages read like "was was hurt stopped by". It's pure chaos, it works in multiplayer, and it applies to any world without affecting gameplay.

What it does: Takes the complete en_US.lang file (13,063 strings covering every translatable string in vanilla Bedrock 1.26.30) and replaces each value with a badly-translated version. The translation pipeline runs each string through 5 layers of machine translation (English → [language A] → [language B] → [language C] → [language D] → back to English), producing nonsense that's loosely related to the original but comically wrong.

What it changes:

  • Item names: Diamond → "Clear Hard Gem", Bucket of Cod → "Liquid Holder of Cod", Oak Door → "Big Leaf Tree Door", Saddle → "Saddle" (some survive intact by luck)
  • Entity names: Villager → "Nose Trading Person", Zombie Villager → "Dead Walking Person Nose Trading Person", Wither → "Three Head Death Boss", Ender Dragon → "Final Flying Boss", Cave Spider → "Cave Eight Leg Silk Maker", Lingering Potion → "Lingering Magic Drink"
  • Spawn eggs: All become "Birth Point Chicken Baby Shell" (the "spawn egg" concept got mangled and applied uniformly)
  • Death messages: "was slain by" → "was was hurt stopped by", "was killed by magic" → "was was life ended by", "walked into fire" → "walked on danger zone"
  • GUI/buttons: Most survive (short strings translate cleanly), but some become "Go Return" (Go Back), "Test Everything Place" (Test World), etc.
  • Banner patterns: Picked up heraldry terms — "Gray Base Fess", "Orange Per Pale", "Black Per Bend Sinister" (accidentally more accurate than vanilla)

What it does NOT change:

  • Gameplay mechanics (it's a resource pack, not a behavior pack — zero logic changes)
  • Block textures, item textures, entity models
  • World generation
  • Save files (safe to add/remove anytime)

Technical specs:

  • Type: Resource pack (RP only — no behavior pack needed)
  • Format: format_version 2, single resources module
  • min_engine_version: 1.26.30
  • File: LostInTranslation.mcpack (~270 KB)
  • String count: 13,063 (covers the full vanilla en_US.lang)
  • Compatibility: Any Bedrock world, singleplayer or multiplayer
  • Achievement-safe: Yes (resource packs don't disable achievements)

How to use:

  1. Download LostInTranslation.mcpack
  2. Open it (double-click or import via Minecraft → Settings → Storage → Import)
  3. Apply it to any world via Settings → Global Resources → activate "Lost in Translation"
  4. Play. Everything will be wrong. That's the point.

Multiplayer: Each player needs the pack installed locally to see the mangled text. The host applying it to global resources will push it to all clients on join.

A special note from ImakuiXminecraft: This pack was so fun to play the best part about it is that you can add it to your global resources and it adds it to your game with achievements still on! I definitely recommend this pack for you to play!
