The Blueprint

Nobody in the village knew where you had found the blueprint. It was rolled up tight, edged in lapis, and it hummed faintly whenever you held it, like it was waiting for something.

One evening, a challenger showed up at the edge of town. Tall, armoured, and very confident. "Duel me," he said. "Right here, right now."

You looked around. There was nothing but grass, a few cows, and one very nervous chicken. Not exactly a battlefield.

So you unrolled the blueprint.

The ground rumbled. Stone bricks rose from the dirt, rows of stands climbed into the sky, and great arches curved overhead. In seconds, a full Colosseum stood where the cow pasture had been. The chicken did not stick around.

Then the arena asked you a question, glowing right in front of your eyes: Kit PvP or Free Style?

You smirked and picked Kit PvP. In a flash of light you were suited head to toe in netherite, a diamond sword in one hand and a shield in the other. Across the arena, your challenger appeared in matching gear, looking a lot less confident than before.

3... 2... 1... FIGHT!

Swords clashed. Pearls flew. Golden apples were eaten at alarming speed. The challenger tried a sneaky splash potion, but you blocked, dodged, and landed the final hit.

WINNER!

The crowd that wasn't there went wild. Fireworks burst overhead.

Then, ten seconds later, the Colosseum quietly folded itself back into the earth. Every dropped item, every stray arrow, every block of cobweb vanished. The grass came back. The cows came back. Even the chicken came back, eventually.

You rolled up your blueprint and tucked it away. Somewhere out there, there were 40 more arenas waiting to be built.

And plenty more challengers who didn't know what they were in for.
