Your bases can finally write to each other.
When an evoker falls during a raid, one of its vexes loses the thread that bound it. Terrified, the little vex flees and hides inside the nearest village bell — trembling, hugging itself, ringing softly at night. Ring that bell as the Hero of the Village and the master's malice washes away. What comes out is a battered, scared, but free little allay: your very own herald.
Give it a home, let it sleep off the past, and it becomes a cheerful winged courier that flies your parcels between belfries — across your whole world.
✉️ How it works
- Win a raid on Normal or Hard and kill an evoker near the village.
- One of its vexes dives into a nearby bell. The bell glows faintly — someone is inside.
- Ring it with Hero of the Village. A frightened herald comes out and follows you.
- Lead it to a belfry and ring the bell — that's its new home. It sleeps for a full day to heal… and wakes up a happy little postman.
- Lead it to a second belfry and ring that bell — the route is set, and both weather vanes turn to face each other.
- Hand it items (up to 3 stacks — bundles welcome!), ring the bell, and watch it take off. The parcel lands at the other end with a little envelope over the herald's head.
🔔 Building a belfry
No blueprints to memorise — it works like a beacon:
- a bell,
- an amethyst block directly below it with at least 3 blocks of empty air in between,
- a weather vane above the bell, no more than 3 blocks away.
Walls, roof and decor are completely up to you. When it's right, striking the bell makes the amethyst chime and a column of lilac lights rises up to the bell. No chime — something's missing.
Not sure where to start? Abandoned belfries generate about once every 2,000 blocks. Each one is a working level 1 belfry you can study, or simply move your herald into. Check the barrel for copper and amethyst.
Upgrade with more amethyst and barrels nearby:
| Level | Needs | Range | Flight speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | bell + amethyst + vane | 500 blocks | normal |
| 2 | 3 amethyst, 2 barrels | 1,500 blocks | 1.3× |
| 3 | 5 amethyst, 4 barrels | 4,000 blocks | 1.6× |
One bell, one herald — no confusion about who flies where.
🧭 The weather vane
A copper weather vane that is actually alive:
- Wind: it swings in the gusts, and the arrow shows where the wind blows. A herald flying with the wind arrives a quarter sooner; against it, later.
- Vex sense: a free vane within 48 blocks of a bell hiding a vex turns toward it and glows — handy after a raid.
- Redstone: weather signal (clear / rain / thunder), a pulse when a herald arrives, and a steady signal while a parcel waits in the barrel.
🪽 The heralds themselves
- Before healing they shiver as if from the cold, hug themselves and dart around nervously like vexes; hit one and it covers its head.
- After healing they flap like allays, lean into turns, and curl up to sleep right on the amethyst block.
- They really fly: they lean, bank and bob instead of sliding flat.
- Rumour has it some heralds answer to the names of faraway porters… 📦
📖 Herald's Handbook
Craft it from a book + feather + amethyst shard. Eight illustrated chapters cover everything above, so you never have to leave the game to check a rule.

Every line — the handbook, messages, item names and the pack itself — is available in English, Russian, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
⚙️ Notes
- No experimental toggles needed. Abandoned belfries appear in newly generated chunks.
- Nothing is given or announced when you join a world — you discover it all by playing.
- Heralds won't carry shulker boxes. Routes stay within one dimension.
