Description

Whats up guys racing raftaar here back again with another crazy behavior pack. I know a lot of you guys have been asking for a more realistic survival experience in minecraft. Vanilla survival gets way too easy once you get full iron armor. You just run around and nothing really threatens you unless you fall into lava or a big hole. I wanted to add a completely new challenge to the game that you always have to think about while exploring. So i coded the RR Heat System addon. This pack completely changes how you interact with the environment by adding a live temperature system to your character.

The Temperature HUD And The Heat Zones

So how this works is when you join the world you will see a new temperature bar right above your hotbar. It starts at exactly 50 degrees which is perfectly normal. But the moment you start exploring different biomes and dimensions your temperature will actually start changing. If you step into the Nether which is obviously super hot, your temperature bar will slowly start climbing up. It goes from Warm to Hot and then it hits the danger zones. If you accidentally step on fire or get close to lava the heat goes up even faster. But dont worry you can actually cool yourself down. If your temperature is getting too high you just need to find some water and jump in. You will actually hear a nice fizz sound effect and your temperature will drop back to normal very quickly.

Danger Zones And Burning Alive

I made sure this system actually hurts you if you ignore it. So if you are in the nether mining for ancient debris and your temperature hits 60 degrees you will start getting the hunger effect. Your character starts starving because of the extreme heat. If you keep ignoring it and hit 80 degrees the HUD will flash red and say BURNING. At this point you literally start taking 1 damage every second. And if you somehow manage to hit 100 degrees the screen will flash INFERNO and play a crazy bass sound and you will take heavy damage until you find water or die. On the flip side if you go to a snowy biome and stand on ice blocks your temperature will drop below 20 degrees. The HUD will say FREEZING and you will get the slowness effect because your character is too cold to move fast. It is a really cool balance.

Custom Armors And Potion Buffs

I also added some cool survival mechanics so you can counter the heat. If you drink a Fire Resistance potion, it makes you completely immune to the heat system while the potion is active. Your temperature wont go up at all even if you swim in lava. Also if you wear at least two pieces of Chainmail or Leather armor, the game detects it as cooling gear. It gives you a cooling bonus that slows down the heat progression so you can survive in the nether for much longer without burning to death. It finally gives you a reason to wear leather armor instead of just throwing it away.

Stats Tracking And The Custom Menus

You guys know i love stats tracking in my addons. So if you hold a normal Book and sneak it opens the Heat Stats panel. In this menu you can see exactly how many times you overheated, how many times you successfully cooled down in water, and the maximum temperature you ever reached in your playthrough. It also tracks the total damage you took from the heat system. If you hold a Blaze Rod and sneak it opens the main Temperature Panel which gives you a full breakdown of the danger zones and tells you if your fire resistance or ice armor is currently active.

Beta APIs Setup And Installation

Because this pack runs a custom script in the background every single second to calculate your exact location, dimension and temperature, you absolutely have to turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings. If you dont toggle it on the custom HUD will not show up on your screen and the whole heat system will just break. So please make sure you check your settings before loading your survival world.
