HealingBE

A lightweight healer-focused addon for Minecraft Bedrock Edition built around the vanilla Mace.

Take on the role of a battlefield healer with four unique spells, a directional spell-selection system, a new damage-to-healing conversion mechanic, and a dedicated Mace Workshop that expands your Mace with healing and vanilla-compatible enchantments.

HealingBE is designed to work particularly well alongside party systems, allowing healing abilities to recognize friendly players while preventing you from accidentally healing hostile players.

Getting Started

HealingBE requires you to obtain a vanilla Minecraft Mace before you can use its healing abilities.

Once you have a Mace, simply hold it in your hand. Your Mace becomes your casting tool and gives you access to the HealingBE spell system.

You do not need to replace the Mace with a custom weapon. HealingBE uses the vanilla Mace as its foundation.

Spell Selection

While holding a Mace, crouch/sneak to open the HealingBE spell selector.

The spell you select is determined by moving your camera relative to the direction you were looking when you began crouching:

Look Up → Fortify
Look Left → Heal
Look Down → Purify
Look Right → Radiance

The selector appears on-screen while you are crouching. Release crouch to confirm your selection.

Your selected spell remains active until you select another spell.

Tip: Start crouching while looking in a neutral direction, then move your view toward the spell you want to select. The system uses your starting camera position rather than absolute world directions.

Casting Spells

After selecting a spell, use your Mace to cast it.

HealingBE handles targeting automatically based on the selected spell. Friendly-player targeting is used for beneficial abilities, helping prevent spells from being used on players who are not considered allies.

Heal

Restore 8 hearts to a friendly player.

Look directly at the player you want to heal and use your Mace.

If there is no player in your crosshair, Heal will instead target yourself.

Healing: 8 hearts
Range: 20 blocks
Cooldown: 3 seconds

--

Radiance

Heal multiple injured allies at once.

Radiance first selects the friendly player you are looking at as its primary target. It then searches around that player for additional injured friendly players.

Radiance can heal up to 5 players total for 8 hearts each, including the primary target.

Healing: 8 hearts per target
Maximum targets: 5
Range: 20 blocks around the primary target
Cooldown: 6 seconds

A player who is already at full health does not consume one of Radiance's healing slots.

--

Fortify

Strengthen yourself and nearby allies.

Fortify applies:

Resistance I
Regeneration I

The effects last for 60 seconds.

You are always eligible to receive Fortify. Nearby friendly players within range can receive it as well.

Duration: 60 seconds
Range: 30 blocks
Cooldown: 6 seconds

--

Purify

Remove harmful status effects from a friendly target.

Look at the player you want to cleanse and use your Mace. If no player is under your crosshair, Purify can target yourself.

Purify removes harmful effects including effects such as:

- Poison
- Wither
- Weakness
- Slowness
- Blindness
- Darkness
- Nausea
- Hunger
- Mining Fatigue
- Levitation
- Bad Omen
and other supported harmful effects
Range: 20 blocks
Cooldown: 8 seconds

Atonement

HealingBE also adds a special healing enchantment called Atonement.

Atonement turns your Mace attacks into a source of healing.

When using an Atonement-equipped Mace, qualifying Mace attacks can place Atonement on an injured eligible ally within 15 blocks.

For the next 30 seconds, 25% of qualifying raw Mace damage you deal is converted into healing for the affected ally.

Atonement is particularly useful for a healer who wants to contribute damage while continuing to support the party.

*Atonement healing only considers qualifying direct Mace attack/smash damage. Secondary damage such as fire ticks, projectiles, poison, and other unrelated damage does not contribute to Atonement healing.

The Mace Workshop

HealingBE gives the vanilla Mace its own upgrade interface.

Find an Anvil, then interact with it while holding a Mace.

Instead of opening the normal Anvil interface, HealingBE opens the Healer's Mace Workshop.

From the Workshop you can:

- Repair your Mace
- Manage Compatible Vanilla Mace enchantments
- Apply Atonement I

*Atonement I costs 5 XP levels to apply.

Once applied, the Mace permanently gains Atonement until replaced by another Mace.

Vanilla Mace Enchantments

The Workshop also provides access to the vanilla enchantments compatible with the Mace:

Smite I–V
Bane of Arthropods I–V
Fire Aspect I–II
Density I–V
Breach I–IV
Wind Burst I–III
Unbreaking I–III
Mending I

The Workshop follows the Mace's normal vanilla enchantment compatibility rules, so incompatible enchantment combinations are still rejected.

Enchantment levels cost XP based on the selected level.

Mace Repair

Damaged Maces can also be repaired through the Workshop.

Repair costs 1 XP level per 50 points of durability damage, rounded up.

Compatibility & Multiplayer

HealingBE is designed around friendly-player detection, rather than simply allowing every player to be healed.

When a compatible relationship/party system is present, HealingBE can use that system to determine who should be considered an ally.

If PvP is disabled in the world, HealingBE treats players as friendly for beneficial spell targeting.

HealingBE also supports healing the caster themselves when a friendly player is not targeted- promoting a solo-friendly play environment- however, healing friendly entities like a tamed wolf is not implemented at this time.

Commands

HealingBE's spells can also be accessed through its custom commands if needed:

/healingbe:heal
/healingbe:radiance
/healingbe:fortify
/healingbe:purify

Additional diagnostic commands are included for testing and target-selection debugging.

Requirements
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.26.40 or newer
- A vanilla Mace
- An Anvil for the Mace Workshop and enchantment system

*HealingBE is intended to be used as an addon rather than replacing Minecraft's vanilla Mace mechanics.
