Figures of Malice: Dr. Lantern, Jack the Ripper [PART 2, Version 2.0.0]
What's new
What's New? (version 2.0.0)
Added Dr. Lantern (A boss based on Jack, The Ripper from 1888 London; two-phased boss.)

Dr. Lantern is a 7.25 tall, slender figure covered with a very dark leather trenchcoat with a blazing giant red necktie, tucked in with high-waist similar-colored pants with muddy boots. In his right hand, he holds a glooming lamp only visible in the first phase, and a menacing throat-cutting long surgical Liston knife on his left hand.
This boss is based fully on the legendary serial killer, Jack the Ripper.

His appearance was based on the mixed evidences provided by his victims.
• Dark, Wide-Brimmed Hat (Fedora): In the night of the Double Event (September 30, 1888) and a witness named Israel Schwartz, explicitly stated that he saw a man attacking Elizabeth Stride in Gateway/Dutfield's Yard. In his official police report, he pinpointed that the attacker was wearing a "wide-brimmed, black felt hat
• The Long Red Tie: When evaluating the primary suspects in Macnaghten's famous 1894 memorandum, Macnaghten characterized the killer as belonging to the lower classes based on the eyewitness descriptions provided by the local residents of Whitechapel.
• Salt and Pepper Texture: At around 1:35 AM on September 30, 1888—just ten minutes before Catherine Eddowes’ body was discovered mutilated in Mitre Square—Lawende walked out of a club with his friends. As he walked down the street, he spotted a man and a woman talking in the shadows. When police later interviewed him, Lawende gave a highly detailed description of the man, explicitly stating that he was wearing a loose fitting "pepper-and-salt colored jacket" (or tweed coat), a grey cloth peaked cap, and a red handkerchief tied around his neck.
• Dark, High Waisted Trousers: At around 11:45 PM on August 31, 1888—just a few hours before Mary Ann Nichols became the very first canonical victim—Marshall spotted a man talking to her on Hanbury Street. In his official police testimony, Marshall noted that the suspect looked like a clerk, wasn't wearing a jacket, and had on distinct dark, high-waisted trousers typical of a working-class or lower-middle-class man of that era.
• The Muddy Boots: While it was Thomas Cutbush’s mother and aunt who originally noticed him constantly returning home in the early morning covered in filth, it was Macnaghten who formally recorded it in the official Scotland Yard case files. In his documentation, he explicitly pinpointed that Cutbush "rambled about at night" and would frequently return to his house with mud-splattered and occasionally blood-stained clothing and boots.
• The Lamp: Referenced to the 1888 foggy streets, covered with yellow smog; the only visible light sources are the Victorian Street Lamps.
• The Liston Knife: Specifically, Dr. George Bagster Phillips (the division surgeon who examined Annie Chapman and Mary Jane Kelly) and Dr. Thomas Bond noted that the deep, clean incisions and the precise removal of organs showed a high degree of anatomical knowledge. They concluded that the weapon had to be a strong, heavy, extremely sharp blade about 6 to 8 inches long—which perfectly matches the exact technical dimensions of a Victorian Liston amputating knife.

[•] ATTACK TYPES:
Attack 1: Flurry Thrust
Doctor Lantern freezes to charge his energy for several tense seconds before launching into a sudden, powerful forward leap toward his target with his left arm thrust forward. During this lunging motion, multiple cloud flurries of rapid-fire slashes erupt around his body to deal heavy, repeated multi-hit damage to anyone caught in his path. After the momentum carries him forward, he maintains his aggressive thrusting posture for a few moments before executing a slow, deliberate recovery back into his default stance.
Attack 2: Ghost Flashstep Flick
Embodying pure deception, Doctor Lantern calmly flash-steps toward the player while hiding his right arm beneath his coat and masking his Liston knife completely behind his back to catch targets off guard. The moment he executes a second rapid flash-step, he flicks the blade forward in a blinding instant, generating an explosive force that aggressively launches all nearby entities massive horizontal distances away. Once the strike connects, he smoothly cuts the momentum and resets into a calm, collective posture.
Attack 3: Tornado Combo
Doctor Lantern delivers an elegant, swift slash from right to left, immediately reversing his momentum from the downward position to throw a vicious upward-diagonal strike that launches targets so high into the air they almost touch the clouds. Just before the second strike concludes, he flash-steps forward to execute a rapid 360-degree spin pivoting his entire body, followed instantly by a reverse 360-degree spin backward. Both of these consecutive spins unleash a massive, high-damage area-of-effect cloud flurry that completely shreds surrounding entities before he slowly and aggressively recovers from his stance.
Attack 4: Aggressive Double-Slash
Designed to catch players completely off guard, Doctor Lantern pivots low to the left at extreme speed and violently unleashes a sharp, upward-curving slash from left to right. Without a single frame of hesitation, he immediately channels the momentum from the end of that curve to follow up with a brutal, rapid cross-cut from right to left. He completes the quick sequence by breaking out of the combat animation with a sharp, highly aggressive recovery frame.
Attack 5: The Golden Flurry
Doctor Lantern drops into a low, terrifying crouch to pivot his entire body before sweeping his left arm up in a sharp curve and aggressively pulling back to unleash his ultimate move. He erupts into a hyper-fast, chaotic storm of luminous golden cloud slashes that deals massive, heavily buffed multi-hit damage across a devastating 8-block radius for nearly 3 seconds. He elegantly concludes this relentless blender sequence with a final top-to-bottom downward arc of his blade before slowly standing back up to his full, imposing height.
