Entity Culling v1.17.5
What's new
v1.17.5 Changelog:
Improved Database Recovery:
- Improved recovery handling when database metadata is missing or corrupted.
- Added safer handling of surviving database shards when metadata cannot be trusted.
- Improved generation-aware recovery to reduce the risk of restoring outdated entity records from older database generations.
- Older-generation-only records are no longer automatically restored during ambiguous recovery; questionable records can be quarantined for recovery instead.
Safer Database Compaction:
- Improved database generation allocation to reduce the risk of reusing generation IDs left behind by interrupted compaction attempts.
- Generation allocation now checks existing shard and seal keys before choosing a new generation.
- Improved quarantine persistence safeguards during database self-healing.
- Compaction and orphan cleanup are prevented from proceeding when required quarantine persistence has failed.
Improved Entity Restoration:
- Improved handling of failed restoration attempts while culling is disabled.
- Added fair, rotating restore batching to help prevent unavailable entities from blocking other restoration attempts.
- Improved handling of records whose tamed owners are offline.
- Restoration work is spread across multiple passes for large databases instead of attempting to restore every record at once.
- Automatic forced-restoration passes are limited to 50 actual restoration attempts per pass.
Improved Retry Handling:
- Improved coordination between retry cooldowns and distance-based restoration.
- Added better handling of urgent restoration cases when players move beyond the active culling range.
- Reduced repeated restoration work during temporary failures while preserving records for subsequent attempts.
Reliability Improvements:
- Improved coordination between database recovery, quarantine handling, compaction, and entity restoration.
- Improved handling of interrupted database operations and leftover generation data.
- Added additional safeguards against stale records being reintroduced during recovery.
