What's new

Enhanced Lightning v1.4.0

🐛 Bug Fixes

Fixed light silently disappearing during specific day/night + cave combinations — an internal lookup only matched exact brightness tiers (15/13/11/9/6). Day/night dimming combined with the cave brightness boost could land on a tier that didn't exist (e.g. 12 or 14), causing light to vanish for no visible reason. This has been present since v1.0.

  • Fixed a stale light block left behind underwater — switching from an underwater item (e.g. sea pickle) to a normal item of the same brightness while still submerged could leave a leftover glowing block in the water.
  • Fixed the internal cache never cleaning up for held/ground light items due to a missing timestamp — harmless to gameplay, but wasted memory over long sessions.
  • Fixed lightCaching config option doing nothing — this toggle existed since v1.2 but was never actually wired into the code.

    ✨ New Features

    • Weather-reactive lighting now actually works. Previously a non-functional placeholder. Requires "Beta APIs" enabled in world Experiments — if it's off, the addon just runs without the weather boost (no errors either way).
    • Torch flicker — torches now dim briefly at random intervals for a more natural flame look. Steady sources (glowstone, beacons, etc.) are unaffected.
    • Player self-toggle — type !light in chat to turn your own dynamic light on/off. Saved per-player, persists across sessions. Toggle the whole feature: playerToggle in

      ✅ Compatibility

      • Works identically under any render mode (Simple / Fancy / Vibrant Visuals / RTX) — light placement is a server-side mechanic, unaffected by client graphics settings.
      • Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.0+
