Enchanted Mobs — 1.6.0.mcaddon
What's new
Enchanted Mobs - 1.6.0
Happy Halloween! Well, at least an early Halloween!
This update is a little different from the usual content-focused releases because, rather than adding a bunch of new mobs, this one focuses on technical improvements and, most importantly, UX — making Enchanted Mobs feel better to play with while laying the groundwork for future additions.
And, of course, it wouldn't be a Halloween update without something suitably creepy!
New Mob
- Creaking
To kill two birds with one stone those two birds being a step towards a new architecture and something Halloween-related here comes the Creaking!
While its gameplay hasn't changed much from what you'd expect, its implementation marks the beginning of a transition towards a more flexible and maintainable architecture. The goal is to make future mob additions easier, improve optimization possibilities, and make the relevant files more approachable for anyone interested in tweaking the mod — including those looking to adapt the system for mobs from other addons!
A little spooky wood, a little structural improvement. Everybody wins!
UX Improvements
- Improved Mob Nametags
Enchanted mob nametags now properly account for walls and other obstacles, preventing them from showing through blocks. Because knowing there's an enchanted mob nearby is one thing. Having its nametag spoil the surprise through an entire wall is another!
- Custom WAILA
A simple, custom WAILA-style display is now available for Enchanted Mobs, providing information about the mod's enchanted mobs without requiring a separate setup. Prefer using your own WAILA addon? Want to identify enchanted mobs the old-fashioned way by getting up close and personal? No problem! The existing options without nametags or WAILA indicators remain available, so you can choose how much information you want on screen.
Side but relevant note
The Creaking marks the first step towards a more modular approach to mob implementation, aiming to simplify future additions, improve maintainability, and make customization more accessible. This is an ongoing transition, not a complete overhaul. Existing mobs will continue to use their current implementations until they're gradually adapted to the new structure.
