Have you ever wished there were more mobs that contribute not only to the visuals, but also to the atmosphere and some mechanics?
In that case, this is the mod. It aims to expand more than one aspect of the game — mainly mobs, but also items and blocks related to different environments such as biomes, other dimensions, and even factions.
Starting with the first mob on the list: the bracken (repsor gravis).
The bracken is an ancient and temperamental mob, temporarily placed near the era of the sniffer, and extinct in our days — but just like in the second case, it can resurface again.
To begin with the mob, it can only be obtained through its bulb/seed. This is found with low probability in desert pyramids, more specifically in the chests.
After obtaining the bulb, all that’s left is to plant it, which normally takes 10 minutes. It works if placed anywhere, but it will be twice as effective when anchored to mud — for those who aren’t very patient.
After the wait, the baby finally hatches, somewhat larger than others. It is slippery when it takes damage, but not very good at fleeing — practically like a pitbull. Besides being interested in any material that works as fertilizer for it, you can also accelerate its growth with fertilizer, just like the rest of the plants.
Finally, after some time it reaches the last stage of its cycle: the adult. Unlike the baby, it becomes more aggressive when damaged. It is very slow and easy to dodge, but when it lands a hit it deals more than half a player’s health. Its only targets are terrestrial zombies (seeing them more as walking protein) and sheep (they seem to hate them for a very specific reason). It also doesn’t care much about a player unless they are carrying something bigger than just bone meal.
In case it dies, there’s no need to worry. Even though it explodes when it has little health left, it is so primitive that it hasn’t yet developed enough gunpowder to create destructive explosions. And after doing so, it will drop a single bulb at the place of death, as part of its final life cycle. This quality of surviving through generations makes it, in some sense, an eternal mob, and it has a 50% chance of dropping 2 bulbs — in ancient times it was believed to be a being that reincarnated and would live forever.
For now that will be everything about the addon, although I already have the next mobs planned to add. And initially it was only going to be a personal addon, but I decided to publish it to see what people think of the project.
