Chaos Magic — Scarlet Witch powers for Minecraft Bedrock

One item, the Band of Chaos Magic, with five powers behind it: telekinesis, a focused hex beam, blink teleportation, flight, and mind control over mobs.

Version 1.2 — full-body casting poses, and a completely rebuilt particle system.

Install

  1. Delete any older Chaos Magic packs first (Settings → Storage → Behavior Packs / Resource Packs), or Minecraft may hold onto the previous copy.
  2. Open ChaosMagic.mcaddon — Minecraft imports both packs.
  3. World settings → Behavior Packs → activate Chaos Magic — Behaviour.
  4. World settings → Resource Packs → confirm Chaos Magic — Resources is active. It should attach automatically. Without it there are no textures, no particles and no animations.
  5. Load the world. Chat should show:

[Chaos Magic] loaded. Craft or /give @s sw:chaos_band

Casting animations

Each power poses the whole body — head, torso, both arms and both legs — with continuous motion layered on top, so nothing looks like a frozen statue:

  • Telekinesis — both arms raised and locked forward, torso leaning back against the weight, a slow breathing sway with a 4 Hz strain tremble in the hands. Held for as long as you keep your grip.
  • Hex Bolt — right arm punched straight out, left arm braced across the chest, torso turned 18° into the shot, right leg planted back, everything shuddering with the recoil.
  • Blink — arms flung out and down while the torso spins 2½ times a second, with the head counter-rotating so your face stays pointed at the destination.
  • Chaos Flight — body pitched 40° forward, arms swept back along your sides, legs trailing, head tilted up to look ahead, all drifting on a slow roll. Held while airborne.
  • Mind Control — right arm extended at the target with the hand rolling, left arm raised beside the head, torso turned and head cocked to one side.

How it works. Bedrock gives scripts no way to pose a player directly, but Molang inside an animation can read the held item. So the moment a power fires, the script swaps your band for a hidden pose variant (sw:band_beam, sw:band_fly, and so on), and the animation reads query.get_equipped_item_name to decide which pose to blend in. The swap is reversed automatically, and a watchdog sweeps your whole inventory every two seconds in case a pose item is ever left behind.

The one trade-off. The poses are attached to animation.player.bob, which Minecraft applies to every player unconditionally and late enough to win over the other animations. Its own job — a barely visible bob on the held item — is given up in exchange. The animation's blend_weight is 0 whenever you are not mid-cast, so it contributes exactly nothing the rest of the time.

If the poses do not show up on your version, everything else still works; the particle work below is script-driven and independent of the animation layer.

Particles

Six purpose-built particles, all drawn from hand-made textures and tinted through a four-stop gradient from near-white through scarlet to near-black as they age:

Particle Role
sw:hex_spark Drifting ember with a flicker built into its size expression
sw:hex_core Bright bloom that swells and collapses over 0.4 s
sw:hex_burst Motion-aligned shards that shatter outward and drag to a stop
sw:hex_rune Spinning sigil, stamped at impacts and bindings
sw:hex_wisp Slow rising smoke, randomised spin and lifetime
sw:hex_thread Thin bright filament for beams and tethers

They are arranged by script into actual geometry rather than scattered: rings on arbitrary planes, helices with tapered radius wound around a direction, sagging tethers between two points, and twisting columns. So the hex bolt is a bright core filament with two counter-wound strands around it; telekinesis is a two-plane orbiting cage plus a tether from each hand; blink tears a helix between where you were and where you arrive; mind control clamps four shrinking rings down over the mob's head.

The powers

Telekinesis — 15 energy. Look at any mob, animal or dropped item within 22 blocks and click. It is pinned four blocks in front of your face, following wherever you look. Click again to hurl it; it takes damage on launch. The grip lasts about 13 seconds.

Hex Bolt — 20 energy. A beam fires 34 blocks along your crosshair, damaging everything within about a block of the line (9 damage each). Where it lands it detonates. Terrain is never destroyed, and the blast is suppressed if the impact is within 4 blocks of you.

Blink — 12 energy. Teleports you to the surface you are looking at, up to 26 blocks, nudging the destination back until you would actually fit and landing you with brief slow falling.

Chaos Flight — 10 energy to switch on, then about 1.2/second airborne. Sneak to sink. Toggle off and you drift down rather than drop. Energy does not regenerate while flying.

Mind Control — 30 energy. The mob becomes a Thrall for about 70 seconds: it hunts nearby monsters, hits them for 6, and follows you otherwise. Hit a mob yourself and every thrall switches to that target. Thralls get strength for your benefit and heavy weakness so their own attacks barely scratch you. Five at once. Players cannot be dominated or grabbed.

Troubleshooting

Item is blank and named item.sw:chaos_band. The resource pack is not active — turn on Chaos Magic — Resources in the world's Resource Packs list.

No "[Chaos Magic] loaded" message, right-click does nothing. The script module did not load, which is nearly always the API version. In ChaosMagic_BP/manifest.json change { "module_name": "@minecraft/server", "version": "2.0.0" } to the version your Minecraft ships, set min_engine_version to match, and re-zip the two folders.

Powers work but the body does not pose. The animation identifier is not being picked up on your build. Tell me your exact version and I will retarget it.

Tuning it

All the numbers live in one CFG block at the top of ChaosMagic_BP/scripts/main.js. The poses themselves are Molang expressions in ChaosMagic_RP/animations/sw_player.animation.json — each bone has three rotation expressions selected by which pose item is held, so you can dial any angle by hand. The .mcaddon is a plain zip: unzip, edit, re-zip the two folders.

Notes

  • Fan-made and unofficial; not affiliated with Marvel or Mojang.
  • Multiplayer-safe: energy, cooldowns, grips, poses and thralls are all per-player.
