Description

Blood Moon

Build a base, but remember: night one is always a blood moon.

On a blood moon, zombies don't shamble at the door. They come through the wall — one block at a time, until there's a hole the rest of them can walk through. Will anything keep them out?

A survival horror addon for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Behavior pack + resource pack. No experimental toggles. Works in existing worlds.

The Blood Moon

Night one of every session is guaranteed. After that it's a roll of the dice that gets more likely every day that goes by without one. Each quiet night makes the next one less likely to stay quiet.

You are never more than a few nights from the next one.

They Will Get In

Under a blood moon, every zombie in the world changes.

  • They move faster than anything that should be walking at you.
  • They break blocks to reach you — and the debris doesn't come back.
  • They have a leaping strike that puts you on your back.

Walls will only delay them. Some materials will hold them back. Very few of them are cheap.

You are not their only prey, either. They hunt villagers, wandering traders and iron golems with the same enthusiasm.

Him

You will hear him before you see him.

Corrupted Herobrine. He walks and attacks like he means it, and he is faster than you are.

He does not leave until dawn. When he goes, he doesn't go quietly.

The Sky Bleeds

Blood moon meteors — random impacts throughout the night. You'll hear one land before you ever see where it hit.

And then there are the full moons. At midnight, for a full minute, the sky comes apart. Most of it streaks past overhead and lands nowhere. Some of it lands. This is where the Blood Shards come from.

Craters smoke for a while afterward. Dawn repairs the terrain. The shards are yours to keep.

Blood moons and full moons are independent. When they line up, you're collecting shards in a war zone.

The Corrupted Domain

Dark oak forests rot. Dead trees, netherrack, soul torches — the corruption generates into the world itself. The fog rolls in. Something is already there.

Carrying a torch pushes the fog back and keeps you able to see. It is the only comfort out there.

Shrines

Buried in the corrupted forest are shrines, each with a Shrine Core at its base. Walk within twenty-four blocks and it wakes.

The Blood Zombie doesn't burn in daylight, doesn't wander far, and has no intention of letting you take the shrine.

One guardian per shrine, ever. The awakened state is written into your save file, so the shrine remembers long after you've forgotten which one you already cleared. Every shrine is a one-time fight.

The Cult

Some villagers have changed.

A Cultist Villager appears near villages on blood moons and makes you an offer. Accept, and the Blood Moon marks a villager for you: "Kill them before sunrise." Do it and you're paid in XP and a fistful of points, and the achievement is called Dark Bargain. The one for joining at all is Covenant, and neither of them is framed as a good idea.

The pact has real terms:

  • The pact keeps you invisible for as long as the blood moon lasts. The zombies that are tearing your neighbours apart will walk straight past you.
  • Only two players may join. "The cult is full. Only two may walk under the Blood Moon."
  • Failure is punished. Miss your mark and the Blood Moon collects, and the death message says exactly why.

Bloodforged Gear

Blood Shards are the currency for the only equipment that fights back.

  1. Bloodforge — 1 furnace surrounded by 8 Blood Shards at a crafting table.
  2. Blood Ingot — 4 Blood Shards, at the Bloodforge's own crafting interface. It won't appear at a normal table.
  3. Nine pieces of gear — full armor set plus sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe, in vanilla shapes using Blood Ingots instead of diamonds.

A full kit runs about 140 shards — a project measured in blood moons survived, not in one good night.

Diamond-plus stats, repairable with Blood Ingots, and three perks that matter:

  • Full set — Corruption Immunity. The things that get into your head stop working. The gear is made of the corruption.
  • Helmet — night vision through blood moon fog, whenever you wear it.
  • Sword — lifesteal. Zombie kills under a blood moon feed you.

The Blood Tome

A book that appears in your inventory, and reappears if you lose it. Open it for your scorecard: lifetime points and a wall of achievements to fill in.

First Blood · Shrinebreaker · The Corruption Falls · The Long Night · Covenant · Dark Bargain · Into the Dark · It Watches · You Cannot Touch Him · Rude Awakening · Bloodforged

Points show on your actionbar as you earn them. Unlocks get a title splash and a sound, because you earned it.

You Can't Sleep Through It

Climb into bed during a blood moon and the game tells you: "The Blood Moon forbids rest tonight."

Full moon nights are the same — "You're too frightened to sleep tonight." And in the corrupted forest at night, something in the trees won't let you. Daylight beds still set your spawn normally.

Install

  1. Download the .mcaddon and open it. Minecraft imports both packs at once.
  2. In your world settings, enable Blood Moon under both Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. Both are required — the custom mobs need the resource pack for their models and textures.
  3. New worlds and existing worlds both work.

Requirements: Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 1.26.20 or newer. No experimental toggles needed.

Known Quirks

  • Every session starts with a blood moon. The night counter is per-session by design.
  • The corrupted forest only generates in new chunks. Existing terrain stays as it was. Use /locate biome roofed_forest and go somewhere you've never been.
  • The shrine guardian is once per shrine, forever. If a shrine is already awake, it's already been fought.
  • Your Blood Tome score is yours alone, and it's saved with the world.
