This addon is all about fishing!
Biggie Catch
A roguelite fishing overhaul for Minecraft Bedrock. Your rod is not a tool, it's a roll — and every fish in the water has a real weight, a real record, and a fight you can lose.
755 species. Six weight classes. 100 randomly rolled rods and 19 more you can only earn. Boss fish you have to summon, with their own soundtracks. A route to the Nether and the End that never touches a pickaxe.
Early Alpha. Playable end to end and heavily tested, but numbers will move and things will break. Bug reports are genuinely useful right now.
The hook
Your rod is not a tool, it's a roll. Craft an Unstrung Rod from 3 sticks and 2 string, use it, and it becomes one of 100 possible rods — ten rarity tiers crossed with ten archetypes, with random stats inside each. A Bruteshaft Worn Rod and a Silkline Endforged play nothing alike.
Everything after that is a ladder of things you cannot buy your way past.
Six stats, and what they actually do
| Stat | Effect |
|---|---|
| Power | Reel progress per tick. Shorter fights mean fewer chances to snap. |
| Depth | How deep a column you can reach. Species have minimum depths — this gates content, not just improves it. Surplus Depth converts to +6 Luck. |
| Tenacity | Cuts the snap chance by Tenacity / (Tenacity + 22). The stat that decides whether Heavy and Colossal fish are on your menu at all. |
| Luck | Multiplies each species' weight by (1 + Luck × 0.030) ^ rarity, so it compounds hardest on the rarest tiers. |
| Lure | How fast a bite comes. Does nothing for what you catch, only how often you get to try. |
| Heft | Fattens the trophy tail of the size curve. Never raises the floor. |
The fight is a tug of war. Release sneak to haul — fast progress, rising tension. Hold sneak to give line — tension falls, progress crawls. Use the rod to yank for a burst and a spike. The fish surges on its own. Max the tension and the line parts.
Six weight classes
| Class | Weight | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Panfish | under 1 kg | |
| Light | 1–6 kg | |
| Medium | 6–25 kg | |
| Heavy | 25–100 kg | |
| Colossal | 100 kg – 15 t | A Worn rod will never land one. That is the point. |
| Primordial | 16 t – 430 t | 25 species. Cannot be caught. Must be summoned. |
20 mediums, 755 species
Ten aquatic — Freshwater, Tropical, Muddy, Brackish, Polar, Saltwater, Reef, Deep Water, Subterranean, Mycelial. Six lava types across the overworld and all five Nether biomes. Four void types in the End.
Each holds a separate species list. A lava rod aimed at a river pulls up nothing, and a river rod aimed at lava burns through.
Rods
100 case rods. Ten tiers from Worn to Endforged, ten archetypes from Cane to Ironspine. Tier sets the stat ranges, socket count, and whether you're lava or void rated. Archetype rescales those ranges, and every archetype gives something up.
19 exotic families, earned not bought. Certain Epic, Legendary and Mythic titles award an Exotic Case built around that exact achievement. Their spread is far wider than any case rod — the ceiling is above anything else in the game, but the floor can land under a Magmaforged.
The Trench Case comes from Deepest Line and averages 90 Depth. Ironline comes from holding 50 species records and averages 93 Tenacity. Kraken comes from landing a two tonne fish and leads Power, Tenacity and Heft — because it came off one.
A God Rod sits above all of them, awarded only for holding every other title at once.
Rod cases: Weathered 400 · Sealed 1,200 · Captain's 3,000 · Magma 10,000 (lava rated) · Void 100,000 (water, lava and the End alike).
Getting to the Nether and the End without a pickaxe
No diamonds, no bucket, no flint and steel, no blaze rods, no eyes of ender, no stronghold. Both routes are still barred — just by fishing progression.
The Nether. Buy a Magma Case and fish an overworld lava pool. Roughly one lava catch in thirteen brings up Obsidian Slag. Ring 8 of them around a piece of flint for a Nether Gate — a whole portal shrunk into one block. Stand on it to go through. About 107 lava catches.
The End. Land a Voidling Bream, a Relic that surfaces in any Overworld water on Luck alone. It will not cook — fillet it at a Tackle Box for 8 Void Scales, ring those around smooth stone for a Void Anchor, and stand on it. You surface on a random End island up to 2,600 blocks out.
A fishing-only player can reach the End before the Nether. That inversion is intentional.
Primordials — the endgame
A sixth weight class, and nothing rolls into it by accident. 25 species, one pool for every medium, from 16 tonnes up to The Unweighed at 430.
The chum line. Render a Colossal fish — anything over 100 kg — into one Rendered Chum at a Tackle Box. Throw 20 into the same spot. Walk more than nine blocks off, or leave too long between throws, and the slick disperses. You need depth: 20 in water, 4 in lava, 25 of drop in the void.
When the twentieth lands the water turns over — server-wide announcement, a boil of particles, and 90 seconds in which whatever takes your line is not a fish.
The fight is a boss fight. Music starts when it takes the line and fades when it ends. It sounds on a rhythm — dives where hauling barely works and tension climbs anyway. Five times it changes phase, speaks, roars, shakes the ground, and the bar becomes a meter: hit the green with the rod.
Two slips and it takes every fish you are carrying.
The first 40 points of Tenacity count for nothing against something this size, which makes trinkets the difference between hopeless and possible rather than a luxury.
Tournaments
One every 40 minutes of play, lasting 10, in four formats: Trophy Hunt, Weigh-In, Longline and Species Sweep.
Six brackets run at once, so a Worn rod is never competing against an Endforged. Each has its own winner and its own scaling pool, and each extra angler adds 25% to that bracket's pool.
| Bracket | Rods | Base pool |
|---|---|---|
| Novice | Worn, Sturdy | 1,200 |
| Journeyman | Fine, Masterwork | 2,160 |
| Veteran | Leviathan, Abyssal | 3,840 |
| Forged | Emberforged, Magmaforged | 6,000 |
| Void | Voidtouched, Endforged | 9,600 |
| Exotic | every earned family | 14,400 |
Sandbagging does not work — your bracket is the best rod you use during the event. God Rods sit outside the system entirely.
Player-run tournaments. Host one from your Angler's Log: set the name, format, entry fee, length, and optionally lock it to a single bracket. Everyone who buys in adds to one pot and the winner takes all of it. The host pays their own entry — no rake — and if nobody scores, every entrant is refunded.
Everything else
20 trinkets, fitted at a Tackle Box and consumed on use. Six are exclusive to the Ender Vendor, several of which are strong back home — Null Bait makes every hooked fish roll Epic or better, Ender Pearl Rig gives +22 Luck in any water.
Standing records. A fresh world lays a record on all 755 species at 15% above the species' real average, held by nobody. You have to actually beat something. The all-round mark seeds too.
72 titles across seven rarities, ending at the Divine tier. Some award exotic cases. Fish God requires holding every other title at once, and since Master Fisherman is contingent on the all-round record, it comes and goes with it.
Cooking. Use a raw fish near any live heat source — campfire, lit furnace, fire, lava — and it cooks in place, keeping its weight and species. Furnaces would open their own GUI and smelting would erase both, so cooking is proximity based. Cooked fish feed you exactly like cooked cod; raw fish like raw cod. Nothing interferes with any other food in the game.
Records that stay breakable. Every species has a maximum, and the moment somebody actually reaches it that maximum lifts by 5%. Land the record and the species grows a new ceiling above you, so nothing is ever mathematically untouchable. Operators can retune the percentage, switch it off, or reset every ceiling.
Chat filters. Ten channels you can switch independently from the Angler's Log — your own catches, other people's, trophies only, records, Primordials, tournaments, case openings, titles, payouts and tips. On a busy server "trophies only" keeps the ★ landings and silences the rest.
Titles in chat. Your equipped title sits beside your name.
Boats roll for two fittings: a Depth Sounder that reads the water as you sail, and a Trawl Net that drags up small fish while under way.
Charter Tickets chart every biome in reach, show which waters each holds and how far, and sail you there. In the Nether and the End they instead offer the route home.
Eight boss tracks, chosen by where you're fishing — Reel of Teeth in freshwater, Jungle Temple Raid in the tropics, Swamp Boss Fight in mud and mangrove, Reef Gate Overdrive on the reef, Deep Dark Showdown in deep and subterranean water, Nether Crown in lava, Ender Crown in the void, and Tide of Guardians everywhere else. Each has two takes that alternate at random.

Companion tools
Biggie Catch Studio — a single browser page that opens your .mcaddon and rebuilds a complete installable pack. It carries a proper pixel editor, a picture importer that strips a photo's background and fits it to a 16×16 slot, and a Rod forge that turns one drawing per archetype into all ten tier variants by recolouring material groups in HSL. Also a full offline wiki — all 755 species filterable by medium, water, rarity, weight class and depth, plus every rod, trinket, title and formula. Nothing is uploaded anywhere and there is no server.
Rod Workshop — design your own rod families with stat ranges, textures, variants and abilities no built-in rod has (weight gates, rarity gates, water locks, unbreakable line, double hook, trophy bias), then export them as a small companion pack that sits alongside the main one.
Install
Open the .mcaddon. Minecraft imports both packs. Enable Biggie Catch Behavior and Biggie Catch Resources in your world, and turn on Beta APIs under Experiments.
Requires Bedrock 1.21.80 or newer. Both packs must be enabled together.
New to it? Everything above is documented in game — craft or buy an Angler's Log and read it there.
A God Fish tier was trialled in 5.0–5.2 and pulled in 5.3 for a rebuild. See the devlog for what went wrong and what has to be true before it returns.
