In the Java edition of the game on PC, continuous attacks almost do no damage due to the introduction of the "attack cooldown" feature. This affects all weapon types in the game, encouraging players to use skill rather than relying solely on rapid attacks. This feature was added to Bedrock Edition as part of addon Bedrock Combat Enhancement🎮:)

Here are a few examples of weapons affected by cooldown!

If you attack while you have no cooldown, you will sweep around and deal damage to nearby entities!

MCPEDL

Weapon Cooldowns:

Sword: 0.6 seconds

Axe:

Wooden and Stone Axe: 1.25 seconds
Iron Axe: 1.1 seconds
Diamond, Netherite, and Gold Axe: 1 second

Hoe:

Wooden and Gold Hoe: 1 second
Stone Hoe: 0.5 seconds
Iron Hoe: 0.3 seconds
Diamond and Netherite Hoe: 0.25 seconds

Shovel: 1 second

Trident: 0.91 seconds

Mace: 1.67 seconds

Default Cooldown: 0.3 seconds for all other items

When you run and attack, the target will be knocked far away

When performing a jump attack with a tool, at maximum cooldown, you will emit a Java sound critical hit.

When hitting a target with any of the following enchantments: Sharpness, Smite, or Bane of Arthropods, particles will be created.
