Ancients: Lost Runes is an addon focused on exploration and mysticism, where players will discover ancient altars scattered in biomes.

These altars are surrounded by runic pillars that require specific elements to activate powerful transformations. The main theme revolves around runic energy, which can be channeled to obtain magical items such as amulets, essences and runic wands.

The player must collect resources from ancestral trees, perform rituals on altars, and unlock lost secrets through ancient scrolls to access advanced abilities and face unique challenges.

In-game documentation

Inside the game you will be able to read about the addon features through the Ancient Book. This book is obtained in small structures that are generated in the forest biome. You will not always find it in the chests and it is the only way to get it. (The book is translated into English and Spanish.)

Ancient Pillars structure:

In these chests you can find different items such as lost scrolls. These scrolls will help you to unlock chapters of the book.

Unlock chapters?

Ancient books will come with locked chapters that cannot be read. You will have to search through the scrolls you find.

To unlock the chapters you must put the Ancient book in the offhand and the scrolls in the mainhand. Then you must interact with the scrolls to unlock the chapters.

Keep in mind that repeated chapters may appear, the farther away the chapter is, the more difficult it will be to get it.

Each time you do this you will be notified when it is repeated and when it is not. Also, in the book's tooltip you will be able to see what chapters that book has.

This is how the chapters will look like when you unlock them:

When you enter a chapter you will have 2 sections. The first is the description, this section will tell you what you need to know to complete the chapter. The second section is the altar section. Here you will be able to see how to do the transformation on the altar or images that are necessary to complete the chapter..

The order of the items in the pillars doesn't matter. It also doesn't matter if there are more items on other pillars, the transformation will only take the necessary items.

The altars will appear in the biome indicated in the section of the main book. For now there is only the forest biome but, in the future, more sections will appear. Each section will have a color that identifies the biome. For example, yellow for the desert.

Altars have no recipe, they can only be in the biome structures.

Creative Commands

Three new commands have been added to obtain the items with their respective skills or in the case of the book, the unlocked chapters, so that it is not so tedious to obtain them in the creative mode.

Ancient Trees

These trees appear in the forest biome. Their trunk is dark and their leaves are blue and white.

You may notice that some trunks of this tree have small blue spots. Try removing the bark with an axe. These trunks are not very frequent, try planting the sapling for a new tree.

This new wood can also be used for decoration.

Ancient Altar

This structure will be generated throughout the forest. It is designed to perform the transformations suggested in the old book.

The logic to make it work is to place the items required for the transformation on the nearby pillars. In the altar that is in the middle is placed the item to transform. I recommend you clean up around it, it's been many years.

In the pillars you must interact with the item at the top of the pillar. You can only place specific items that provide runic magic.

The position of the item depends on the face of the pillar you interact with (try to interact with the faces on the sides).

You will notice that when you place the item the entire pillar will be loaded. To remove the item just interact again and it will be removed.

To perform a transformation in the correct way you must put the activation items on the pillars. Then place the item to be transformed on the altar.

If you did everything right you will notice that the item on the altar will start to rise and runic particles will come out of it.

Once the transformation is complete, the pillar items will be consumed.

If for some reason you lost some pillars don't worry, you can craft more with rune fragments and a rune.

(For the other types of pillars, only replace the bricks)

Small Ancient Temple

In the forest you can find this small temple that belonged to ancient civilizations. It is said that they hid their riches in the temples. You should take a look.

The Ancient Temple

This temple is a little larger than the previous one, but it contains a great treasure. The ancient mask of the guardian of the forest, only those with the necessary power will be able to acquire it. (Chapter 7 - The Mask)

To get this mask you must drink the runic essence extracted from a monster.

This mask will grant you benefits for the runic staff.

Benefits:

With the mask on, the runic staff will spend half of its durability each time it is used.
When you use the secondary attack of the staff (while crouching) the effect will be more lethal inflicting double damage to enemies.

Don't forget to look for treasures in this temple, they can be of great use.

Deepslate Runes

In the depths you will find a new mineral, the rune fragments. These fragments will help you to craft a rune necessary for the transformations.

Sometimes they can be difficult to see or sometimes they can be confused with iron.

To craft the rune you must collect 8 fragments.

This rune is empty, you should charge it in the altar. (Chapter 4 - The Ancestral Rune)

Iron Amulet

The iron amulet is a great companion in your adventures. But, carrying it empty can be a bad idea. To charge it with runic magic you must use the altar (Chapter 2 - The amulet). This altar will grant you the Forest Vitality ability.

Once loaded you will notice on the amulet's tooltip that it has the ability.

To use the amulet you only have to interact with it. This amulet will give you 10 seconds of regeneration II. You must wait a little time to use it again and after 5 uses you will have to charge it again in the altar.

Runic Staff

The runic staff is a tool carried by the ancient guardians of the forest. This staff must be loaded on the altar with specific items and be under the runic effect. (Chapter 5 - The Runic Staff)

To obtain the runic effect you must eat a runic apple or drink a bottle of runic essence (Chapter 3 - The Runic Apple) and (Chapter 6 - Captured Essence).

Once the transformation is completed, the rune staff will increase in rarity.

This wand has 2 abilities, the first one is to summon runic orbs by throwing them (it is done by interacting without crouching). The second ability gives the runic effect to monsters near the player within a 10 block radius. This effect will damage the monster for a certain amount of time or until it dies. (it is done by interacting while crouching).
