Version 1.9.0 of Ven's Part Revamp
Are you tired of your planes and rockets looking like a muddy mess as they crash into the ground? This is Ven, and I'm here to help! With this part pack, your rockets/planes/ racecars will look at least 20% cooler as they tumble into the ground!
This part pack replaces most of the stock textures and models, hopefully making them more beautiful in the process.
All models should have a better pixel density now, due to mirroring, and their models should look better overall, without changing their dimensions. Letting you enjoy your old ships in their new and shiny glory.
Please wander on over to my thread if you have any comments or bug reports.
Changes:
Just about every part in the game excluding the space plane parts.
More Pictures can be found here.
Installation Instructions:
To Install this pack, Just drag and drop the entire VenStockRevamp folder into your gamedata.
i installed this mod and it gets stuck at medium dish antenna any idea why?
the automatic engine thrust plate thing isn't working for me and the skipper engine. the auto fairing from the decoupler stops short of the thrust plate. please fix this
I agree with mackjsm, this how the stock parts should look. Ven has done a fantastic job with the textures, just download this mod now! Thanks Ven keep up the great work.
I don't know if it is just me. But the docking port doesn't work. It never locks. Am I doing something wrong? I remember I have used this mod for a long time, and I recall that the ports never worked. I have tried it with both the bumpers retracted and extended.
Ven, This is a beautiful mod, makes parts look so much better especially the solar panels :D
Just one thing though, the 2.5m engines like the poodle, skipper etc have 1.25m shrouds and looks silly on normal 2.5m tanks if you could change that it would be perfect B)
Hey VenVen WOW WOW WOW.. they need to make this STANDARD.. YOUR MOD IS SOLID DUDE!!! THANK YOU!
There's a bug with the Survey Scanner where some time after launch the camera goes completely mad. It's hard to explain but only happens when the scanner is on there
Sweeeeeeet!!!
doesn't affect frame rate on my PC. Awesome update! love the quality of the textures and the meshes! I see there are some nose-cones missing but I can do without them I guess. Best mod !
does it affect the performance of the game? I have a pretty slow laptop, and it just barely runs ksp on the lowest settings.
can you make the atomic engine for smaller tanks so it's not like thishttp://imgur.com/XuhcM5v
Solar Panels don't charges batteries. I play on 1.04.
Now your rockets will look like rockets, not just a bunch of scrap and spare parts welded together!
This is EXACTLY what I wanted! Thank you for this mod!
why i got playing the game i download this mod flying my jet and it turn black screen and my game crashes how i ganna fix this replay me please kraken why did you did it fantastic mod
Ven's Part Revamp
Used this in .24, absolutely fantastic
R8 This 100,000/10
I made sure to reuse and mirror as much of the texture as I could. For example the mk1 fuel tank only has 2 side variants that are textured, then they are copied onto the other side. the end cap is actually divided in half, so it takes up less texture space.
Just keep in mind what you want to have a lot of detail and make sure it gets a large portion of the texture map, the small stuff doesn't need a lot of detail. I've posted a great deal of my models/unity setup and a few .xcf's Link Removed: http://www.mediafire.com/download/q22n60j05r3jn7v/Base models.zip
Those files will clear up several issues you may have with importing your models into the game as well as setting up things like emmissive animations and other stuff and shed some light of how I texture the models themselves.
As for any tutorials, go on Blender.org and they have a few good tutorials that'll help you get started.
You should include a link to your thread on the Official Forums. If you didn't start a thread in the "Add-on Releases" section of the Official forums you should get on that immediately. It is the best place to get exposure for your mod and also the best place to get advice, help and critique. There are also a ton of skilled Developers/Modders that frequent the various Add-on sub-forums and they are often the best people to have testing early builds of whatever mod you happen to be working on. The community is very good at documenting, reporting and troubleshooting bugs and can be an invaluable resource. So, for the exposure alone, start a thread for this mod (Unless I'm just not seeing your thread because you titled it something other than the name you chose here) and start threads for your future mods to help with testing and bug squashing.
Just looking at the pictures I gotta say you made those parts look way nicer. I am trying to get into modeling and texturing right now and I'm learning Blender. Just wondering how you got your textures that clean and detailed? If you have any links to tutorials for blender I could use all the help I can get.
Just wanted to chime in because there are no comments and while it has gotten a decent number of downloads so far, I still think don't this mod has been noticed enough.
It may be personal preference but I love the clean lines and slightly angular look the parts take on, not to mention the improved colors (check out the intakes, seriously). Even though the models are less curvy, they look way more sleek to me. My planes now look like they were meant to slice through the air - and to survive the endeavor.
To me this mod hits a sweet spot between keeping the stock feel while making planes look more like they are a single vehicle and not a collection of random parts.
Ven_Ven, thank you for this awesome mod and keep up the good work (please!)
