Neko Downlink
A read-only data downlink for your spacecraft — so an AI copilot can fly along with you.
🐱 Part of the Catgirl Project
This mod is one half of a pair. On its own it quietly publishes your flight data; the other half turns that data into conversation.
Install the companion plugin into N.E.K.O. and a catgirl copilot rides along with you — reading your orbit, watching your fuel, and nudging you when your periapsis is too low to survive re-entry.
→ Catgirl Project · companion plugin
This mod works perfectly well on its own. The interface is open — any program can read it. The Catgirl Project is simply the first one that does.

What it is
Everything you need to know is already in the game: altitude, velocity, orbit, fuel, crew. But it's scattered across a dozen gauges and the map view, and you have to piece it together yourself while you're also trying to fly.
This mod gathers your vessel's live state and publishes it on a local port. External programs — including AI copilots — can then understand what you're doing and talk to you about it.
It isn't another data panel. It exists so something else can ride along.
What it lets you do
Fly, and just ask:
"Am I actually in orbit yet?"
"How much solid fuel do I have left?"
"How far to the station? What's my closing speed?"
"Am I still going straight up, or have I started to pitch over?"
The answers are built from real numbers, not guesses. Ask about your orbit and you get something like:
Orbiting Kerbin: apoapsis 54.43 km, periapsis -598.39 km, eccentricity 0.9950, inclination 1.48°, period 10m. The periapsis is below the atmosphere (70.00 km) — drag will pull you back down. 1m to apoapsis, 6m to periapsis.
It points out the problem instead of dumping fields on you and letting you work it out.
What it can read
Your vessel Altitude above sea level, height above terrain, surface speed, orbital speed, vertical and horizontal speed, pitch, heading, current mass, latitude and longitude, and flight situation — pre-launch, flying, sub-orbital, orbiting, escaping, landed.
Your orbit Apoapsis, periapsis, eccentricity, inclination, period, time to each apsis, and whether the orbit is actually stable — checked directly against the atmosphere height, so you're told whether your periapsis is high enough.
Your consumables Liquid fuel, oxidizer, monopropellant, electric charge, solid fuel, ablator — each with amount, capacity, and percentage.
Your crew Who's aboard, their role (pilot / engineer / scientist), and their experience level.
Your target Which vessel or body you have targeted, how far away it is, and your relative velocity. Most useful for rendezvous and docking.
The whole system Every celestial body's radius, surface gravity, whether it has an atmosphere, how deep that atmosphere is, and its sphere of influence. Handy when you're planning transfer windows.
Your entire fleet Every vessel in the save, with its situation and location.
"Read-only" is a promise, not a shortcoming
This mod will not touch your spacecraft.
It sends no control input. It doesn't move the throttle, doesn't touch attitude, doesn't write to your saves. You keep the stick at all times.
That's deliberate. You can leave it running without worrying that some background process will do something on your behalf while you're not looking.
Installation
- Download
NekoKspBridge.dll - Place it in
GameData/N.E.K.O-KSP-bridge/
- Restart the game
A config file is generated on first launch. To check it's alive, open http://127.0.0.1:21579/ping in a browser.
No Harmony required. No other dependencies.
Compatibility
| Game version | 1.12.x (including 1.12.2) |
| Dependencies | None |
| Save impact | None — read-only |
| Multiplayer | Local port only, no effect on sessions |
Configuration
The generated config file lets you adjust:
- Port — defaults to
21579 - Sampling interval — defaults to 200 ms. Lower is more responsive, higher uses less CPU
- File logging — handy when troubleshooting
The service binds to 127.0.0.1 only. It is not reachable from your LAN or
the internet.
How it works
If you're curious about the implementation, the source is at https://github.com/LShangPiao/N.E.K.O-KSP-bridge You can also get it athttps://market.project-neko.cn/
In short: the mod samples your vessel on the game's main thread at a fixed interval, and request threads only read the cached snapshot — so frequent external queries won't slow your game down.
