HighSchool Life

Cliques, crushes, secrets and a gossip feed for your teens. Pick a side, build your crew, fall in love, and pray nobody posts your secrets.

High School Life

Made by AshCodes

High School Life turns your Zoi's school into a living social world. Students pick a side, form cliques, fall for each other, hold grudges, dig up secrets, post them on the school's gossip feed and fight over who rules the halls. Your Zoi is right in the middle of it, and every other student plays too.

Identities: who are you at school?

Every teenager slowly leans toward one of four identities. It's shaped by what they do, their personality traits, their friends and their clubs. It keeps changing as they grow.

Identity Style Their moves
Popular Lives for attention and decides what's cool Hype Up, Throw Shade, Set a Trend
Bully Rules the halls through fear Intimidate, Spread a Rumor, Demand Homework
Nerd Knows everything and loves to share it Tutor, Geek Out, Correct Them
Rebel Breaks the rules and stands up to anyone Skip Class Together, Dare, Stand Up to a Bully

Students with no clear lean are Mixed. They can still use anything, and their path is wide open.

Every move can fail. Whether it works depends on:

  • Who you are and who you're talking to. A Popular hypes people up easily. Bullying a Nerd into doing your homework is easier than bullying a hot-headed leader.
  • Your relationship. Friends say yes more often.
  • Your reputation compared to theirs. Throwing shade at someone more popular can backfire.
  • Your personality traits. Shy students crack under pressure, Mean ones throw better shade, and Romantic ones are better at confessing.

Using an identity's moves makes you more of that identity. Your Zoi becomes what they do.

Reputation and witnesses

  • Reputation goes from 0 to 100. Wins, good posts and big moments raise it. Humiliations, failed dares and exposed secrets bring it down.
  • Witnesses matter. Only students standing close enough to see what happens count as witnesses.
    • A bold move in front of a crowd hits harder, for better or worse.
    • Sneaky moves like rumors and homework demands get riskier with every pair of eyes around. You might get caught.
    • Witnesses react out loud, and a student who saw you be cruel may keep it in mind for later…
  • Rankings show the most influential students of each identity at your school, so you always know who to beat.

Cliques: find your crew, or build one

Free cliques

  • Invite students to your clique, or start a new one, through a new conversation.
  • Whether they say yes depends on your friendship, your reputation and how your crew is seen.
  • Students you don't control recruit each other too, so cliques form and shift on their own.

The four big cliques

  • Every school has The Populars, The Bullies, The Nerds and The Rebels: the five most influential students of each identity.
  • Climb into the top 5 and you get an invitation. Fall out of it and you're out.

Loyalty

  • Every member has a loyalty to the clique. It grows with friendship with the leader and with shared wins.
  • A leader who loses face loses members. Unhappy members leave, or betray the clique for a rival one.
  • Getting kicked out hurts: your Zoi feels Left Out until they find a crew again.

Missions and daily quests

  • Missions: your leader asks you to do things, like throwing shade at a rival or hyping them up in public. If you're the leader, your members come to you with requests.
  • Daily quests: every morning you get 3 quests that fit your clique's identity, drawn from 20 per identity.
    • A Popular might have to set a trend in front of a crowd.
    • A Bully might have to make a Nerd do their homework.
    • A Nerd might have to tutor someone from a rival clique.
    • A Rebel might have to skip class with a Nerd.
    • Each quest raises your loyalty, and doing all three earns a bonus. Skip them all and your identity slips.

Clique wars

  • Rivalries between cliques can turn into open war, on their own or because a leader declares it.
  • For three days, every win, humiliation and leaked plan scores points on the war board.
  • The leader in the lead can negotiate: demand a public apology, homework, a draw, or even that the other clique disbands. After the war comes a few days of peace.

Love life: crushes, confessions and heartbreak

Crushes

  • Crushes start as secrets. They grow when two students spend time together and fade when they don't.
  • When your Zoi starts falling for someone, you choose: let the feeling grow, or let it go.
  • The panel shows how strong each of your crushes is, whether the school knows about it, and who has a crush on you.

Making a move

  • Confess Crush: tell them how you feel. Attraction, your friendship and how you compare in popularity all count. A Nerd confessing to a Popular is a long shot unless they're already close.
  • Ask About Their Crush: find out who someone likes. It's easier with friends, and Populars always know.
  • Talk About My Crush: ask a friend for advice. A good friend encourages you (unless they hate your crush), a Rebel pushes you to go for it, a Popular may snub you, and a Bully may lie to you.

Not always mutual

Even when two students like each other, one of them may not want more.

Rejected? Your call

  • After a "no", you decide whether to keep hoping or move on. Moving on ends the crush for good and cools things down between you.
  • If things go badly wrong with your crush, you get the same choice.

Drama

  • Two students after the same person become rivals: Tension, then Rivalry, then Public Conflict.
  • Rivals snap at each other, get jealous when they see their crush with someone else, and their friendship erodes day after day.

Your couple or your friends

Dating someone your best friend can't stand, or someone from the clique you're at war with? Sooner or later, someone will tell you to choose.

The Hallway Feed

The Feed is the school's social network. Trends, dares, confessions, fights, clique wars and exposed secrets all end up there. Your Zoi gets notified when a post is about them, and you can filter what's about you or your clique.

Secrets: everyone has one

How your Zoi learns secrets

  • By seeing things: someone picking on another student, who started that rumor, a student in a couple flirting with someone else.
  • Ask About Their Crush: learn who someone likes.
  • Dig for Dirt: ask a friend of your target for gossip. The closer you are to them, the more they say. A loyal friend may refuse, and warn your target that you were digging.
  • Spill the Tea: once a day, a clique mate tells you what they heard. The more loyal they are, the more secrets they share.

What you can find out

Bad grades, a secret hobby, a broke or rich family, a secret dream, a criminal record, a fake friend inside their own clique, and many more…

Your identity shapes what you find

  • Nerds hack phones: grades, homework, messages.
  • Populars hear the gossip: love lives and money.
  • Bullies make people talk, and they're the only ones who go after family matters.
  • Rebels catch people in the act: fake friends, forbidden love, cheating.

What to do with a secret

  • Post it on the Feed. You gain popularity and they're humiliated, but they'll want revenge. Posting can backfire: if the school takes their side, you're the one who looks bad. The risk is shown before you post.
  • Blackmail them, for money or for a public favor.
  • Keep quiet, or save it for later.

Watch your back

  • Students who saw your Zoi do something bad may post it, or ask you for money to stay quiet.
  • Exposed for cheating? Message your partner and swear it's a lie. If your partner is the one caught, you decide whether to believe them. Believe them and the sadness goes away. Don't, and they won't be forgiven easily.

Memory and revenge

  • Nobody forgets. Students remember who humiliated them and who stood up for them. Grudges fade slowly, and gratitude makes friends.
  • Revenge. Once someone has really wronged your Zoi, the panel offers ways to get even:
    • Shake Down: take their lunch money.
    • Steal Their Crush: flirt with the one they like.
    • Badmouth: turn one of their friends against them.
    • Online revenge: a fake rumor, a hacked account, a mocking post, or starting a war between cliques. Each identity has its own way.
  • The others take revenge too, on you and on each other.

A school that lives without you

  • Students you don't control use the new interactions on each other every day, at your Zoi's school.
  • Bullies go after Nerds, Populars snub them, Rebels talk to everyone, and students of the same identity stick together.
  • When it happens near your Zoi, you see it for real: they walk up and talk, and witnesses react.
  • Real consequences: everything changes the game's own friendship and romance.
    • Tutoring really improves exam preparation, and skipping class really walks students out of school.
    • Shaking down your Zoi, or being shaken down, really moves money.

The High School Life panel

A window that follows whichever student you control, with five tabs:

  • Me: your identity and reputation, your clique and its quests, your love life, your enemies and your revenge options.
  • Feed: the Hallway Feed and the secrets you know.
  • Rankings: who leads each identity at your school.
  • Activity: what just happened, to you or to the whole school.
  • Settings: how lively the school is, plus an optional cheat mode.

Every result gets its own card: who did what, the odds, what was said, and every effect. Minimize the panel into a small icon that shows how many new posts are waiting.

🗨️ New conversations

The new conversations appear in the conversation menu, tagged with the identity they belong to, for example Hype Up (Popular):

Conversation Tag
Hype Up, Throw Shade, Set a Trend Popular
Intimidate, Spread a Rumor, Demand Homework Bully
Tutor, Geek Out, Correct Them Nerd
Skip Class Together, Dare, Stand Up to a Bully Rebel
Confess Crush, Ask About Their Crush, Talk About My Crush Love
Gossip About a Rival, Dig for Dirt Drama
Spill the Tea, Invite to Clique Clique

The revenge moves (Shake Down, Steal Their Crush, Badmouth) appear in the panel when your Zoi has someone to get back at.

Installation

  1. Install with the CurseForge app, or download the file and unzip it.
  2. For a manual install, put the HighSchoolLife_8F44FFD1 folder in Documents\inZOI\Mods.
  3. Start the game (restart it if it was running) and load a save with teenagers.

ℹ️ Good to know

  • Only teenagers and adolescents take part. Children and adults live their lives as usual.
  • Everything happens at your Zoi's school. Switch to a student from another school and the panel follows them.
  • Students from different schools never share a clique, and crushes stay within the same age group.
  • The mod's story (cliques, crushes, grudges, the Feed) is kept with your save.
  • In Settings you can slow the school down, turn off automatic crushes, or stop other students from using the new interactions. Cheat mode lets you edit students, cliques and crushes.
  • The mod is in English.
  • It was made for the current version of inZOI. A game update may require a mod update.
