What the Flock brings life to the skies and forests of Hytale with little birds that wander around the world.

Designed to add immersion and variety, discover sparrows, finches and other birds as they roam naturally through the world, or craft your own bird nests to have a little home for them wherever you want. Whether you’re building a cozy village or exploring untouched lands, What The Flock adds a little charm to every corner of your adventure.🐦

The mod is in very early development, so you might encounter some issues!

Current features:

Several bird breeds spawn naturally in the world:
- Eurasian Tree Sparrow
- European Robin
- European Goldfinch
- Eurasian Bullfinch
- Eastern Bluebird
- Eurasian Blue Tit
- Northern Cardinal
- Eurasian Blackbird
- Japanese Snow Fairy
- Blue Jay
- Rufous-Collared Sparrow
You can craft a nest in the Farmer's Workbench to spawn one or two birds from the previous list to roam freely.

Things we would like to explore, in no particular order:

- More complex bird behavior system to make it more natural and fun.
- Alternative bird behaviors for birds like seagulls or woodpeckers.
- Birds would bring things to the nest
- Birds would occasionally drop feathers
- Birds would spawn naturally from nests in the world, and not as flocks like normal mobs.
- Birds would mate and lay eggs.
- Define player-nest behavior: if it's a chest-like menu or just a left-right click interaction.
- Craftables: Bird feeders and houses of different tiers, aviary blocks, general bird-themed decor, hawking glove (to tame / get birds in the wild and bring them home), bird whistle (to summon the bird as a companion), pigeon coop.
- Make unique farmer's workbench category.
- Birdwatching Album: educational and collectible.
- (Birdwatching) stretch goal: camera to take pictures of the birds yourself and add them to the album.
- Define bird rarity: for example some birds would be spawnabble only with specific items to unlock them in the list, or in more challenging areas only.
- Make unique birdcalls per bird.
- Use those birdcalls in the game's ambience to indicate what bird is nearby.
