🜏 VoidArmor Changelog — Versions 2.5.1 to 2.5.3

The Elven Ninja, the Uncooperative Daggers, and the Void Anvil Incident

Late one evening, an Elven ninja entered the G.N.O.M.E. Institute without opening a door, disturbing a guard, or appearing on any scheduled appointment list.

This would normally have triggered a containment response.

Instead, he placed two daggers on the engineering desk and quietly explained that they could not be upgraded.

The daggers had been enchanted, repaired, renamed, polished, cursed, personalized, and altered by enough accumulated metadata that the upgrade forge no longer recognized them as the weapons they had once been.

The forge rejected them.

The ninja stared at the forge.

The forge continued rejecting them.

The resulting silence lasted eleven minutes and caused two junior engineers to resign.

G.N.O.M.E. determined that the problem was not the daggers.

The problem was that the daggers remembered too much.

The Void Anvil was commissioned shortly afterward.

Version 2.5.2

The First Void Anvil Prototype

G.N.O.M.E. developed a new machine capable of restoring equipment to its original asset-defined state.

The design was described internally as:

“A controlled method of removing everything an item has experienced.”

The Ethics Department requested clarification.

The request remains unanswered.

⚒️ Added the Void Anvil

Version 2.5.2 introduced:

  • The Void Anvil block
  • Its block interaction system
  • A confirmation interface
  • Equipment restoration procedures
  • Several warnings written after testing had already begun

The first release supported all five Void Armor tiers:

  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Thorium
  • Adamantite
  • Mithril

When approved, the Void Anvil restores supported armor to its original asset defaults.

This permanently removes:

  • Enchantments
  • Durability state
  • Custom display information
  • Modified descriptions
  • Instance-specific metadata
  • Everything the item learned while you were not watching

The process cannot be reversed.

The item will not remember you.

This is considered a feature.

🔒 Atomic Equipment Replacement

The Void Anvil uses atomic hotbar-slot replacement to prevent the selected item from being:

  • Accidentally consumed
  • Overwritten by another item
  • Replaced after changing slots
  • Lost during confirmation
  • Quietly taken by the void while Engineering blamed user error

The item is checked again immediately before restoration.

If the player changes the selected item, moves it, replaces it, or attempts something creative during confirmation, the operation is cancelled.

The Void Anvil does not trust the operator.

Experience has validated this decision.

🧱 Void Anvil Workbench Recipe

The Void Anvil can be constructed at the Workbench using:

  • 20 Iron Bars
  • 10 Copper Bars
  • 20 Adamantite Bars
  • 25 Void Essence
  • 5-second crafting time

Twenty-five measures of Void Essence were determined to be the minimum required amount.

Twenty-four produced an ordinary anvil.

Twenty-six produced an opening.

The recipe remains unchanged.

📖 Player Documentation

A new player-facing Voile page was added covering:

  • The Void Anvil recipe
  • How to use the Void Anvil
  • Supported armor tiers
  • Safety procedures
  • Permanent metadata removal
  • Why the confirmation warning should be read before clicking the confirmation button

The warning is not decorative.

The red text is not a challenge.

📝 Documentation Corrections

Additional documentation work included:

  • Corrected table and heading spacing across multiple Voile pages
  • Improved readability around large tables
  • Corrected the Weapons documentation to show five craftable weapons

The previous count was prepared by a Records Gnome who was simultaneously typing, counting, and being pursued by a loose helmet.

He has been reassigned.

The helmet has not.

Version 2.5.3

The Anvil Learned What a Weapon Was

The Elven ninja returned.

He brought the daggers.

The original Void Anvil stared at them, recognized that they were weapons rather than armor, and refused service.

The ninja did not speak.

He simply placed one hand on the engineering desk.

It was at this moment that G.N.O.M.E. noticed he was missing neither patience nor access to sharp objects.

Development resumed immediately.

⚒️ Complete Void Anvil Release

Version 2.5.3 released the complete Void Anvil system.

The Void Anvil now supports every loaded item identified by Hytale as armor or a weapon, including:

  • VoidArmor equipment
  • Compatible base-game armor
  • Compatible base-game weapons
  • Compatible modded armor
  • Compatible modded weapons
  • The Elven ninja’s daggers
  • Any future equipment that correctly identifies what it is

The anvil no longer relies on item names, naming conventions, or whether an engineer thinks an item “looks weapon-shaped.”

This eliminated several false classifications.

A decorative spoon is no longer considered a dagger.

The spoon remains under observation.

🗃️ Registry-Based Equipment Detection

A new immutable supported-equipment index is now rebuilt from Hytale’s item registry whenever the server starts.

Equipment is identified using actual armor and weapon asset metadata rather than item-name patterns.

This means support is determined by what the item is, not what someone decided to call it.

The distinction became necessary after testing encountered:

  • A sword named Definitely_Not_A_Sword
  • A helmet named Lunch
  • Three daggers with no visible name
  • One item named Weapon_Final_Final_UseThisOne2

G.N.O.M.E. now consults the registry.

The registry is less imaginative.

⚠️ Updated Confirmation Messages

Void Anvil confirmation messages were expanded to clearly support both:

  • Armor
  • Weapons

The interface now warns that restoration permanently removes:

  • Enchantments
  • Durability changes
  • Custom names
  • Display metadata
  • Item-specific modifications
  • Sentimental attachment, where technically measurable

The user must explicitly confirm the operation.

G.N.O.M.E. cannot prevent regret.

G.N.O.M.E. can require a button press before it begins.

📚 Expanded Voile Documentation

The following Voile documentation was updated:

  • Void Anvil
  • Start Here
  • Player Guide
  • Development documentation

The documentation now explains:

  • Universal armor and weapon support
  • Registry-based equipment detection
  • Restoration behavior
  • Permanent metadata loss
  • Confirmation safeguards
  • Why enchanted equipment may need restoration before entering certain upgrade recipes

The Elven ninja reviewed the instructions.

He nodded once.

No one saw him leave.

The daggers were gone.

The window was still closed.

Final Incident Assessment

The Void Anvil can now restore compatible armor and weapons to their original asset-defined state.

It supports equipment from:

  • VoidArmor
  • Hytale
  • Compatible external mods

The process is permanent.

The removed metadata cannot be recovered.

The enchantments will not return.

The custom name will not return.

The item will become what it was before you changed it.

Whether this is restoration or erasure remains under internal debate.

The Elven ninja can now upgrade his daggers.

He left no payment.

He left no footprints.

He did leave a note carved into the engineering desk:

“Next time, test the weapons too.”

G.N.O.M.E. has classified this feedback as constructive.

The desk has been replaced.

The message returned overnight.

Void Anvil deployment is approved.

Memory removal is permanent.

The equipment is clean now.

It may not appreciate that.
