This mod is the first one out of an incoming series adding one weapon, which on this case is simple set of weapons to the game: Uchigatana (IK the mod name says "katana" but I am not expecting people to know every time someone refers to a katana they are actually talking about the uchigatana since katana is just "one side sword").
This new weapon type based on the katana within the game files, which means at the moment is not the most optimal mod, but it has a twist, while the katana inside the game cannot block, does not have any signature ability or ultimate, and cannot be crafted, this version I created is capable of blocking and be crafted (I am currently working on a way to make it have a signature ability).
The two handed sword is not a weapon that will replace for any situation your sword, it has advantages and disadvantages over the sword to be an extra option, not just a better version. The current features of the Uchigatana are:
- about 50% more dmg than swords on slashing attacks
- is two handed (so cannot use torches or other secondary equipment)
- can block incoming attacks with right click
- cannot use signature abilities
- has 50% less durability than swords
- pierce attacks can deal same or less damage as swords
So far it only counts with a line that is capable of being created at this moment in a survival world, meaning it starts on copper and ends in adamantite tier, all of them crafted on the sword window with just 2 extra bars as any sword.
While it might feel a little underwhelming just 50% more damage than a sword, you can tell the difference, making it ideal for fighting special and strong creatures on your journey.
To do list (from higher to lowest priority):
- add a signature ability
- give each weapon a more unique model
- add more uchigatanas to the progression
- rebalane (if needed)
Disclaimer:
This is my very first successfully created mod after trying on both minecraft and terraria, so expect updates to not be as quick as they could since I am still figuring out how everything works and I barely have java knowledge.
The current models for the swords are more of placeholders which will eventually, hopefully sooner than later, be replaced.
Feel free to see the inside of the mod for educational purposes.
