Description
Build your crates in game, without a config file, and put them in your world. Players press [F] on a crate block (or use /crates or a crate key), watch the strip spin (or the light run round the prize board), and see the prize come out of the chest for everyone around to see.
Crates in your world
- Three animated crate blocks: a wooden chest, an iron-bound chest and a golden legendary chest. Place one, press [F] on it as an admin and pick which crate it opens. Their recipes are admin-only unless you allow players.
- Floating text over each crate block (with the free Tempest Holograms): the crate's name and best rarity, its price or key, "Press [F] to open", and the last rare win ("Last Epic win: Steve - Mithril Sword"). Every player reads it in their own language.
- Idle show, set per crate: a few of its prizes slowly circle the block and soft sparkles rise in the colour of its rarest prize, only while players are near, with a server-wide cap so big hubs stay smooth.
- Opening in the world: the lid rattles and flies open, prizes swirl up out of the chest, the won prize rises glowing in its rarity's colour and flies to the player. Rare wins burst with stars and a louder sound; Legendary ones add a firework. Everyone nearby sees it, which is what makes the next player want to open one.
- Press [F] holding the key to open at once: holding the crate's key skips the menu and starts the opening.
Features
- Up to 10 crates, made in game: name, icon, price, key, rank lock, opening style, and every prize with how often it comes up. The chance of each prize updates as you type.
- Two opening styles, chosen per crate: the classic spinning strip that slows down onto the prize, or the prize board, where a light runs round every prize in the crate and stops on the winner. Rare prizes flash and glow in their rarity's colour.
- Prizes of every kind: items (any amount), money, or a server command.
- Rarities from Common to Legendary, worked out from each prize's chance, with colours on the strip.
- Crate keys (Bronze, Silver, Gold): give them as rewards, votes or quest prizes with
/cratekey. - Locked crates for players of a certain rank.
- Seasonal crates: give a crate a first and a last day and it shows up for players only then, with "3 days left" on its card. A Halloween Crate with Hytale's new pumpkin lamps and bat plush comes with the examples (20 October to 2 November), so every holiday is a new crate, not new code.
- Fair and safe: the prize is decided the moment you pay; closing the page cannot change it. Prizes that do not fit drop at your feet, and prizes for players who left are kept until they return.
- Odds shown to players: every crate card shows its rarest prize and its chance, and the prize list shows each prize's chance ("12.5%, 1 in 8").
- Server-wide news for rare wins: choose the lowest rarity in
/tempest(for example Epic and Legendary). The whole server sees it in chat, and with Tempest Economy' Discord webhook so does your Discord. - Sounds, and a tag in chat you can rename.
Built for Hytale's rules on loot boxes
If your server sells crates or keys, Hytale's EULA (7.9) asks you to show the odds before the purchase, to disclose any pity system, and to keep a history. Tempest Crates shows every chance in game (and, in the Pro edition, the pity rule), and with Tempest Economy every purchase is in the player's history and the server's log. (Selling keys for real money, and anything about it, is your responsibility as server owner.)
Works with your economy
Uses Tempest Economy, or any VaultUnlocked economy. Nothing to set up.
In 7 languages
English, German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Polish. Each player sees the crates, prizes and spin in the language their game is set to. Hytale does not offer German or Polish yet: to use one of them, pick it once in /tempest → General → Language and every player gets the Tempest plugins in it. The crate editor and /tempest settings stay in English. Crate and prize names you write stay as you wrote them.
Install
Needs Tempest Core (free) and an economy. Add Tempest Holograms (free) for the floating text and floating prizes over crate blocks; without it crate blocks still open, sparkle and play their openings. Rank locks work with LuckPerms or Hytale's own permissions.
Pro edition
For big servers: any number of crates, pity counters (after so many opens without an Epic or better prize the next one is guaranteed, and each player sees their own count), milestone bonuses (every so many opens of a crate pay extra money, with a countdown on the card), Open x10 (ten openings at once, shown grouped by rarity), rank and permission prizes ("VIP for 7 days", taken back by itself), and free openings (a crate each player opens free once every few hours, such as a daily free crate). It replaces this jar and keeps every crate and setting. Ask in our Discord.
