No Longer Being Supported
With Hytale's currently very fast rate of updates and current lack of modding tools aimed around mod compatibility, I am currently not interested in keeping this mod maintained. For the time being I will focus on a single larger project, that I am not currently ready to reveal, so that I don't have to be pulled too many ways.
If anything in this mod interests you as a modder, feel free to tear apart the files and use whatever you want from them. Please credit me if you use my glass textures in any public projects, but otherwise use it however you see fit.
Thank you to everyone who gave my mod a try! I'll be back with something a lil more ambitious and game changing when I'm ready!!!
Scuffed Translucent Glass for Hytale made out of Crystals!
While whining about the lack of translucency for item/block textures in Hytale, a friend asked "aren't particles translucent? couldn't you spawn a particle to act as translucent glass?" and well, like, yeah!
LOTS of problems with this implementation of course, but for now it's better than nothing!
How does it work:
- Craft from 4 crystal shards in the Builder's Workbench
- By default, places a pane facing North/South. Crouching lets you place facing East/West
- Using a hammer on the glass causes it to swap facings
- Glow with the same settings as vanilla crystal blocks
- As they are particles, you will notice that the glass texture takes a moment to fade in when being placed and will slowly fade out once broken. The fade in will also happen when the game is reloaded and in some other semi niche circumstances.
Again, this is scuffed and only exists because as far as I'm aware this is the best we can get for now. I will not be making anymore translucent block variations as it already requires me to config 8 different files per block. Hytale team if you read this, is there an ETA on real block translucency?
