RunFree is a small quality-of-life plugin/mod for Hytale that I felt the game really needs: it makes exploration feel smoother and more fun, while still keeping the “RPG stamina matters” combat vibe intact.
What it does:
- Exploration sprinting is free: you don’t burn stamina just for sprinting around the world.
- Combat still matters: the moment you do a combat action (dealing or taking damage), sprinting stamina drain turns back on for a cooldown period.
- After the cooldown ends (and you’re not actively fighting), you go back to stamina-free sprinting.
So you still get stamina pressure during fights and chase/escape moments, but you’re not punished for simply traveling and exploring.
Why I made it:
I love exploration, and I always felt sprint stamina drain slows down the “adventure” part of Hytale more than it adds challenge. This plugin is meant to keep the game’s combat stamina mechanics meaningful only when they should be, when combat is happening.
My hope is that this adds a little joy to roaming, building, and discovery without removing the “oh no, stamina!” tension that makes combat feel like an RPG.

It is also based on the Hytale Example Plugin template by Kaupenjoe (GitHub). Huge thanks for that starter repo, it made it possible for me to even attempt this.
Because I’m not really a programmer, updates may be slow. I’ll try my best to maintain it, but I’m being upfront that I’m learning as I go.
If you’re more skilled and want to improve it, optimize it, or recreate it in a cleaner way, please do, I genuinely welcome that. For now, I just wanted something that would be immediately useful and make exploration feel better.
