What is Retro+?

Retro+ takes the heart and soul of classic 16-bit games and gives them a high-quality modern treatment. The shapes, colors, and feel are instantly recognizable to anyone who played the originals — but with crisp textures, better lighting, and the polish of today’s standards.

This is a pack designed for Map making but I'm doing my best to keep everything accessable in vanilla. Let me know if you have any ideas for handling this level of additional assets.

Current Focus: Zelda-style RPG Assets - And its proving to be a very big project in itself. May end up being just a Zelda Asset Pack.

Welcome to Kakarico Village

Here is a Map of Hyrule made for Hytale from the original game. Right now the only save available is foundational and does not have any buildings, houses, or structures. Just a fresh landscape. Of course I will be uploading updates to the save but wanted everyone to have a place to start fresh if they want to build the map themselves. I've just done all of the grunt work. I streamed the start of the builds over on Twitch if you want to check it out. I plan on streaming again but do not have a schedule just yet. Be sure to follow me there or just check out the VODS. Also uploaded to YouTube.

Why Players Love Retro+

Highest Quality Standard — Every texture and model is made with care. If something doesn’t feel right, tell me and I’ll improve it. There are several experimental and WIP items, where I am either fishing for suggestions or havent completed the model or texture to my liking. I will release them as I make progress otherwise I would not get any updates out at all. LOL
True to the Original Spirit — Not direct copies, but respectful modern takes that capture the essence of the classics. I've tried my best to color match the color schemes from the game itself so that it feels like it was made for Hytale.
Modular & Growing — It's possible new retro game themes will be added as full themed sets (blocks, workstations, decorations, etc.).
Community Driven — Your suggestions decide what comes next! I've only gotten one suggestion for Super Metroid, I've looked at the blocks but need more feedback about what elements we want to bring into Hytale. I do what all the added content to fit well with Hytale.

Hylian-style bricks, stones, and tiles in multiple variants
Detailed plaster and floor edging for authentic building
Functional Link’s Workbench with custom crafting categories (Possibly Leaving Soon)
Nature elements, cliffs, paths, and decorative pieces
Walls that work like stairs so build themselves when turning
And so much more. I couldnt take pictures of everything but there are some really cool QOL items added that I think many of you will enjoy.

I’m actively expanding Retro+ with more retro franchises. Possible nexts:

Super Metroid - Mechanical Blocks, ?
Castlevania – Gothic castle stones, haunted manor details, and classic horror elements
Sonic the Hedgehog – Loop rings, checkered zones, and speedy platformer style
More retro titles based on community feedback (NES, SNES, SEGA, etc.)
