Magic Storage: Linked Chest & Bag

Your chest, in your pocket. Magic Storage adds a Magic Chest and a Magic Bag to Hytale. Link the bag to the chest once, and you can open that chest from anywhere: deep in the Forgotten Temple, in another world, or inside a dungeon instance. No more running back to base with a full inventory.

How it works

1. Craft a Magic Chest and a Magic Bag at the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench.
2. Place the Magic Chest wherever you like, for example in your base.
3. Link the bag: hold the Magic Bag and use the Magic Chest.
4. Open the chest from anywhere: right-click with the bag in your hand.

Features

• Access from anywhere: the bag opens its linked chest across any distance, in other worlds and in dungeon instances.
• Share a chest: any bag can be linked to any Magic Chest, including chests placed by other players, and any number of bags can share one chest. Great for shared team storage.
• Large Magic Chest: place two Magic Chests side by side, facing the same way, and they join into one large chest with twice the slots, just like vanilla chests.
• Find your chest: while you carry a linked bag, blue sparks rise from your linked chest and the gem on its front glows. Only you see the effect on your own chest.
• Safe on death: the Magic Bag stays in your inventory when you die.
• One bag per player: a second bag is dropped again, and you cannot craft another one while you carry a bag.
• Breaking a chest: its contents drop on the ground, and linked bags tell you that the chest no longer exists. Breaking either half of a large chest drops both Magic Chests.
• Custom models: a violet chest with a void crystal and a matching bag, each with their own textures and icons.
• Languages: English and German.

Crafting

Both items are crafted at the Goblin Tinkerer's Workbench in the Forgotten Temple, in the Gadgets category. The workbench must be powered.

Installation

Magic Storage is a server plugin. All models, textures and translations are bundled in the .jar, so players do not need to install anything.

1. Download MagicStorage-<version>.jar from the Files tab.
2. Put it into the mods folder of your server.
3. Restart the server.

Requires Hytale server 0.7.4 or a later 0.7.x build (Chapter 1, Update 7).

Configuration

On first start the plugin creates mods/oridiu_MagicStorage/config.json:

Chest contents are saved together with the world: when a chest window closes, whenever the world saves, and when the server stops. There is nothing to configure for saving.

Commands for operators

Operators (or anyone with the plugin's command permission) can change all settings in game. Changes take effect immediately and are written to config.json.

/ms works as a short form of /magicstorage.
