G.N.O.M.E. Factory Manager Master Power Update
G.N.O.M.E. is pleased to announce the addition of a Master Power Control to the Factory Manager.
This feature was created after several machines continued operating during what engineering had clearly described as “an absolute and non-negotiable shutdown.”
The machines disagreed.
They no longer have that option.
⚡ Factory Manager Master Power
A new green/orange MASTER ON/OFF switch has been added to the Factory Manager.
- Green: Factory operations permitted
- Orange: Factory operations denied
- Blinking unexpectedly: Not part of the approved design
MASTER OFF
When Master Off is activated, the Factory Manager:
- Records every controlled machine’s previous operating state in SQLite
- Forces all controlled machines into the Off state
- Locks newly discovered machines Off
- Prevents individual machine controls from reactivating equipment
- Maintains the shutdown until Master Power is restored
This is not a polite request.
This is an institutional decision.
🔒 Absolute Shutdown Enforcement
While Master Off is active, the following systems cannot bypass the shutdown:
- Modern Storage exports
- Wireless power
- Automatic ignition
- Inserted fuel
- Inserted recipes
- Individual machine controls
- Operators repeatedly clicking the same button with increasing confidence
Machines may contain fuel.
Machines may receive materials.
Machines may be fully prepared to operate.
They will remain Off.
G.N.O.M.E. has finally separated the concepts of “ready” and “authorized.”
🟢 MASTER ON
When Master On is restored, each machine returns to the operating state recorded before the shutdown.
Machines previously running will resume operation.
Machines previously Off will remain Off.
Machines whose previous state cannot be determined will be treated with suspicion and left alone until paperwork arrives.
The Master Power state and all recorded machine snapshots survive server restarts.
Turning the server off and back on will not cause G.N.O.M.E. to forget.
G.N.O.M.E. keeps records now.
The records keep themselves.
🏭 Machine Compatibility
The absolute shutdown applies to:
- Factory machines
- Alloyers
- Standard processing machines
- Sieve machines
- Creative Block Suppliers
- Carbonization Furnaces
- Wireless-powered machines
- Modern Storage-supplied machines
If the Factory Manager controls it, Master Off can silence it.
This includes machines powered through indirect systems, external supply networks, or optimistic assumptions.
No exemptions were approved.
Several were requested.
🗃️ Persistent State Tracking
Master Power status and machine snapshots are stored in SQLite.
This ensures that:
- Shutdown states survive server restarts
- Previous machine states remain available
- Newly detected machines remain locked during Master Off
- Machines cannot quietly resume operation while management is absent
The database now remembers which machines were running.
It also remembers which machines tried to start afterward.
This information is retained for administrative reasons.
🖥️ Interface and Documentation
The Factory Manager interface and supporting documentation have been updated to explain:
- Master Power controls
- Shutdown behavior
- Machine-state restoration
- SQLite persistence
- Compatibility with external power and item systems
- Why clicking an individual machine’s On button during Master Off accomplishes nothing
The new switch is clearly marked.
The behavior is clearly documented.
The machines have been clearly warned.
✅ Final Engineering Assessment
The Factory Manager can now perform a complete, persistent, and enforceable shutdown across all supported machine systems.
Fuel cannot bypass it.
Recipes cannot bypass it.
Wireless power cannot bypass it.
Modern Storage cannot bypass it.
The machines cannot bypass it.
Master Off means Off.
“Production has been suspended until morale improves.”
