What's new
Machine Blocks Update — Factory Manager
Also includes magic and machines partial integration needs testing.
https://www.curseforge.com/hytale/mods/magic-and-machines
The G.N.O.M.E. Institute has installed a new Factory Manager system, because apparently “walking between machines and remembering numbers” was considered unsafe, inefficient, and emotionally damaging.
Added
Factory Manager Block
Added the **Factory Manager**, a central control block for managing connected factory systems.
The Factory Manager can scan nearby Modern Storage export buses and show attached machine information in one place, including:
- Connected export buses
- Attached machine targets
- Machine power state
- Current recipe/output selection
- Fuel configuration
- Automation status
- Stored item counts
G.N.O.M.E. has officially replaced “run around the factory yelling” with “open one screen and yell slightly less.”
Machine Control Page
Added a main Factory Manager page for monitoring and controlling factory-connected machines.
The page includes:
- Machine list
- Inventory preview
- Machine search
- Inventory search
- Power controls
- Automation shortcuts
- Output recipe controls
Machines can now be reviewed from one place instead of forcing players to inspect every export bus by hand like some kind of medieval clipboard goblin.
Automation Rules
Added automation controls for turning machines on and off based on stored item counts.
Automation rules support:
- Watched item selection
- Less-than threshold rules
- Greater-than threshold rules
- Enable/disable toggle
- Separate ON and OFF rules
- Stored quantity preview
- Rule summaries on the main manager page
Example use cases:
- Turn a machine on when Iron Powder drops below a set amount
- Turn a machine off when Copper Ingots are above a set amount
- Keep fuel, ore, powder, and ingot production from running forever like an unsupervised goblin with a lever
Automation Copy / Paste
Added automation copy and paste tools.
You can now:
- Copy automation rules from one machine
- Paste automation rules to another machine
- Copy automation rules to matching machine types
This makes setting up large production lines faster and reduces the chance of players developing “export bus stare.”
Output Recipe Selection
Added a dedicated output recipe selection page.
The output page lets players choose what a connected machine should produce and configure export behavior without immediately closing the page.
Added output configuration features:
- Recipe result selection
- Resource/item selection
- Fuel item selection
- Fuel quantity support
- Current Export Bus Configuration preview
- Save-based flow so choices are not written until saved
The page now keeps configuration review visible before saving, which prevents the classic G.N.O.M.E. mistake of “clicked shiny thing, factory changed forever.”
Output Recipe Copy / Paste
Added output recipe copy and paste support.
Factory Manager can copy and paste:
- Selected output item
- Export filters
- Keep amount
- Selected fuel cell
- Fuel quantity behavior
This helps duplicate production setups across matching machines without manually rebuilding every export bus configuration.
Trends Page
Added a Factory Manager **Trends** page for tracking stored item quantities over time.
Trend tracking supports multiple time ranges:
- 10 seconds
- 30 seconds
- 1 minute
- 5 minutes
- 30 minutes
- 1 hour
- 1 day
The Trends page can track selected items and show whether storage is increasing, decreasing, or sitting there suspiciously doing nothing.
Background Trend Sampling
Added background trend sampling so tracked item data can keep updating even when the Trends page is not open.
Trend samples are recorded from connected storage networks and saved for short-term production history.
This allows the Factory Manager to answer important industrial questions like:
- Are we gaining Iron Ingots?
- Are we losing fuel cells?
- Why did the copper vanish?
- Who gave the Ultimate Crusher permission?
SQLite Factory Manager Database
Added SQLite storage for Factory Manager data.
The database stores:
- Automation rules
- ON/OFF rule settings
- Selected machine output recipes
- Trend item selections
- Trend samples
- Output recipe clipboard data
Factory Manager data now survives restarts instead of relying on memory, luck, and one intern named Clipboard Greg.
Temporary Trend Buffer
Added temporary in-memory trend buffering.
Trend samples are buffered in a temporary database and flushed to the main SQLite database on a timed interval.
This reduces constant disk writes while still keeping trend data available for the Factory Manager.
Pending trend samples are flushed during shutdown so the database does not lose its notes when the server goes to sleep.
Magic & Machines Interface Support
Added Factory Manager support for Magic & Machines interface-style connections.
Factory Manager rows can now identify:
- Modern Storage export buses
- Magic & Machines interfaces
- Attached Machine Blocks benches
- Controlled machine targets
The Factory Manager can show whether a row is coming from Modern Storage or a Magic & Machines-style interface source.
Changed
Factory Manager Responsiveness
Improved Factory Manager page refresh behavior.
The update system now avoids constantly redrawing while the player is interacting with input fields, buttons, and active pages.
This helps reduce:
- Ignored button clicks
- Search box fighting
- Tooltip blinking
- UI refresh interruptions
- Automation page weirdness
- Trends page interaction issues
G.N.O.M.E. calls this “letting the player finish clicking before repainting the wall.”
Search Input Protection
Search inputs are now protected from unnecessary redraw behavior.
This helps prevent the Factory Manager from eating typed text, resetting searches, or refreshing while the player is still trying to type an item name.
The search boxes have been placed under official G.N.O.M.E. keyboard protection.
Automation Page Refresh
Automation pages now use safer refresh signatures.
The page only refreshes when meaningful automation data changes, such as:
- Enabled state
- Watched item
- Operator
- Threshold
- Target rule
- Stored quantity
- Output refresh revision
This keeps automation data current without constantly rebuilding the page for no reason.
Trends Page Refresh
Trends page refresh behavior was improved to make item tracking more stable.
The page now tracks selected items, search state, trend page state, and refresh timing more carefully.
This helps the Trends page stay useful without turning into a flickering science poster.
Export Bus Configuration Flow
Output item selection now uses a Save flow.
Selecting recipe outputs, resource items, or fuel items no longer immediately writes the export configuration or kicks the player back to the manager page.
The player can review the current export bus setup first, then Save when ready.
This was approved after several G.N.O.M.E. machines were accidentally configured to export confidence.
Database Cleanup
Factory Manager trend data uses retention cleanup so old samples do not pile up forever.
Trend data is kept around the one-day tracking window, with extra cleanup padding to prevent stale database clutter.
This keeps the database from becoming a historical archive of every potato that ever moved through storage.
Fixed / Improved
- Improved Factory Manager button responsiveness.
- Reduced UI refresh interference.
- Reduced blinking tooltip behavior.
- Protected search boxes from redraw spam.
- Added safer automation refresh checks.
- Added output recipe copy/paste behavior.
- Added automation copy/paste behavior.
- Added copy-to-matching-machines behavior.
- Added persistent output recipe clipboard support.
- Added shutdown flushing for pending trend data.
- Added database-backed automation storage.
- Added database-backed trend tracking.
- Added better status summaries for machine power, recipes, fuel, and automation.
- Added support for showing attached machine and export bus targets more clearly.
G.N.O.M.E. Notes
- The Factory Manager is not a clipboard. It is an advanced clipboard with buttons.
- Automation rules were added after the machines refused to “just know when to stop.”
- The Trends page has confirmed that resources go up, resources go down, and sometimes copper performs a disappearing act.
- Output recipe copy/paste was created after the fifth identical export bus setup caused a technician to make direct eye contact with a wall.
- The database now remembers things, which is helpful because the interns do not.
- Factory Manager is now less likely to interrupt your clicks, unless your clicks are terrible.
