What's new

Re:Heartless — Update

This update doesn't add any new weapons or creatures: it reworks everything that connects them. Crafting, loot, armor, and spawning now all run on a single unified system based on the synthesis materials from the original Kingdom Hearts games.

Installation — No More Extracting the Mod

The pack is now distributed as a ready-to-load archive. Simply drop it into your Mods folder and the game will load it directly, without extracting it or leaving it as a folder.

The issues that prevented the mod from loading as an archive have been fixed:

  • Restructured the pack: manifest.json, Common, and Server are now directly at the archive root, with no extra directory level. This was the reason the mod worked as a folder but failed when compressed.

  • Moved item icons back to Icons/ItemsGenerated/ — Hytale rejects icons that point directly to textures.

  • Removed the 10 shop shelves (Deco_Shopshelves_*), whose models and textures were missing from the pack and caused validation to fail.

The 75 Synthesis Materials

The mod now revolves around the 75 synthesis materials from Kingdom Hearts: 16 families (Blazing, Frost, Lightning, Lucid, Pulsing, Twilight, Hungry, Wellspring, Soothing, Sinister, Twilight, Betwixt, Remembrance, Tranquility, Stormy, and Mythril), each with 4 tiers — Shard, Stone, Gem, and Crystal — plus 11 unique materials: Orichalcum, Orichalcum+, Adamantite, Damascus, Electrum, Fluorite, Evanescent Crystal, Illusory Crystal, Shimmering Crystal, Lost Illusion, and Manifest Illusion.

These materials are the currency of the entire progression system: what you collect from Heartless is exactly what you need to forge your equipment.

Weapon Crafting — Completely Reworked

Recipes based on Heartless body parts have been replaced. 39 recipes have been rewritten around synthesis materials, with requirements that scale with weapon power:

Tier Weapon Damage Required Materials
Starting tier — 2 types of Shards
1 21–40 Shards + 1 Stone
2 41–60 Stones + 1 Gem
3 61–90 Gems + 1 Crystal + 1 unique material
4 91 and above Crystals + unique materials
Ultimate Ultima, χ-blade Orichalcum+

Ultima gets its canonical KH3 recipe back: 7 Orichalcum+, 2 Wellspring Crystals, 2 Lucid Crystals, and 2 Pulsing Crystals.

Munny costs now follow a power curve instead of flat tiers: 50 for a starting weapon, 100 for the Kingdom Key, 10,000 for Ultima, and 15,000 for the χ-blade. Costs increase strictly with damage — no more weapons that deal twice as much damage costing the same as their weaker counterparts.

Armor — 107 Pieces Reworked, 30 Sets

Defense, mana, durability, and crafting have been overhauled across every armor piece in the mod.

  • Scaling calibrated against Sora's KH2 outfit = 1.00, ranging from Sora's KH1 outfit (0.65) to Xehanort (1.85).

  • Defense distribution per piece: chest 100% of the set's defense, legs 75%, head 55%, hands 45%.

  • Mana added to 98 pieces. In Hytale, weapons and armor are the only ways to obtain mana, with each set providing an amount appropriate to its character. Aqua, Xemnas, Xehanort, Invi, and Wisdom Form have the highest values. The headpiece accounts for 90% of the set's mana, making it the mage's primary piece. Anti-Form and Valor Form provide no mana, faithfully reflecting the original games.

  • The Dark class has been removed everywhere because the game does not support it, making it useless. The 8 affected sets — Anti-Form, Organization XIII, Halloween Town, Riku, Vanitas, Possessed Riku, Xemnas, and Xehanort — receive 8–18% additional raw resistance as compensation.

  • Complete crafting recipes for every piece, using the same materials as weapons, with costs that scale according to each set's level.

Loot — 51 Drop Tables Reworked

Every creature now drops materials from two families across three rarity tiers, replacing their old body-part drops.

Rank Common Tier Mid Tier Rare Tier
Mob Shards Stones Gems
Elite Stones Gems Crystals
Boss Gems Crystals Unique materials

The rarest materials in the game only drop from major bosses: Orichalcum+ from Darkside, Manifest Illusion from Twilight Thorn, Shimmering Crystal from Dark Hide, Evanescent Crystal from GroundShaker, and Orichalcum from Prison Keeper and Meow Wow Royal.

All 75 materials are obtainable, and no crafting recipe is locked out — verified programmatically against all 39 weapon recipes and 107 armor pieces.

Every creature's loot matches its theme: Elettrotorre drops Lightning materials, Living Bone drops Sinister materials, the red Creeper Plant drops Blazing materials and the white one drops Frost materials, while Nocturne drops Lucid materials along with a small amount of the three elements it uses.

Spawning — 16 Spawn Tables

Heartless no longer appear just anywhere: each creature has its own environments and spawn rate, calibrated against Shadow at 100.

Weight Creature Group Size
80 Illuminator 2–3
60 Red and White Creeper Plant variants 1–3
55 Power Wild, ThornBite 2–4
40 Stellzenknüppler 1–2
32 Darkball 1–2
25 Living Bone 1–2
20 Elettrotorre Solo
15 Hayabusa 1–2
3–7 TreeHolder, Scar, Shan Yu, Yellow Guard Armor, Shadow Stalker, Dark Thorn Always solo

Scar rules the savannas, while Shan Yu dominates the frozen biomes, with his Hayabusa falcon perched on the heights. The red Creeper Plant grows in volcanic caves, while the white variant appears in the tundra. Power Wilds roam through jungles in packs, Living Bones haunt graveyards and mines, and Stellzenknüppler inhabit mage towers.

Bosses are 20 to 30 times rarer than Shadows and never spawn in groups. Dark Thorn is the rarest creature in the mod, restricted to Zone 4.

Two Key Items

  • Awakening Paopu Fruit — dropped by the Darkside in the Awakening Zone, it opens the portal to Destiny Islands.

  • Awakening Station Medallion — a miniature stained-glass representation of the Station of Awakening, featuring a 12-panel rosette and a raised golden heart. Forged using the Paopu Fruit.

Balancing and Fixes

  • Wizard / Nocturne increased to 300 HP and 30 damage, and Darkball to 250 HP and 26 damage. They were previously on par with the weakest mob in the game, despite belonging in the middle of the roster.

  • 3D models: fixed coplanar faces that caused overlapping textures to flicker. Added a 2 px margin between each face in texture atlases to prevent colors from bleeding between adjacent faces.
