Description

Jurassic Frontier brings dinosaurs to the world of Hytale, not as a magical addition, but as the result of a secret scientific project that once tried to bring extinct life back from fossils, and succeeded. Generations after that project collapsed, its creations still roam free, having spread across every biome of the world. This mod lets you walk into the aftermath: hunt them, study them, raise your own, and uncover what really happened.
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Tamed dinosaurs won't work if you take them out of the creative mode; you must use the command found further down this page.

Long ago, a research consortium known as SPARC launched a classified program called Project Lazarus, dedicated to reviving extinct species using fossil DNA. Spread across several specialized facilities, each one focused on a different geological era, the project succeeded beyond what anyone expected, and that success is exactly what destroyed it. In what survivors simply called the Uprising, the creatures escaped containment, overwhelmed the facilities, and forced the project into permanent abandonment.
Generations have passed since then. Dinosaurs are no longer an escaped experiment contained to a lab, they're a fully established part of the world's ecosystem, with their own territories, behaviors, and populations. The ruins of SPARC's facilities are still scattered across the map, slowly being reclaimed by nature, full of fossils, broken machinery, and fragments of what the scientists left behind.

Unlike mods where dinosaurs are simply tamed off the ground, Jurassic Frontier makes the process of obtaining one an actual scientific journey:
- Excavate: search the world for fossil deposits, buried in different biomes and in the ruins of SPARC's old facilities.
- Extract: process the fossil to recover usable ancient DNA.
- Synthesize: feed the DNA into a synthesis machine, which uses a living egg as a biological vector to reconstruct the dormant genetic traits.
- Incubate: care for the egg until it hatches into a living creature.
- Raise: grow your dinosaur from hatchling to adult, shaping it into a companion, a mount, or a working animal depending on the species.

- Abandoned research facilities: explore the remains of SPARC's labs, each tied to a different stage of the project or a different geological era. Expect environmental storytelling, damaged terminals with lore to piece together, rare fossils, and leftover prototypes.
- Active exploration camps: unlike the labs, these are alive: wandering paleontologists have set up camp across the world, and you can trade fossils, materials, and resources with them as you explore.
- Fossil excavation sites: scattered naturally across every biome, offering a steady source of new DNA to work with as you progress.

Diverse dinosaur species dominate the world, each with its own behavior, habitat, and role: from docile herbivores grazing in herds on the plains to dangerous apex predators ruling the deepest biomes.
