Hardcore Multiplayer
Designed as an enhancement for Hytale’s official Hardcore mode.
Built for hardcore multiplayer, this mod makes survival far less forgiving. Food restores significantly less health, buffs wear off faster, and players deal reduced weapon damage. Meanwhile, all damage received is increased — including damage from enemies, falls, fire, and other environmental hazards. Every fight, mistake, and risky decision matters.
Death does not always have to be final. A fallen player can be revived through a ritual at a custom altar built entirely from vanilla blocks and items. To begin the ritual, the dead player must be online and on the same map. The caster then strikes the altar using the player's soul.
Once activated, the caster must remain within four blocks of the altar for 30 seconds. Leaving the area, destroying the altar, or the dead player going offline will cancel the ritual. If the ritual succeeds, the fallen player respawns at the altar.
Dead players in spectator mode can use /hcsoul to drop their soul again, but be careful: souls can be destroyed.
Commands
/hcstats— Displays simple player stats in chat./hcrevive— Explains the vanilla materials and blocks needed to build a revive altar./hcsoul— Lets a dead player in spectator mode drop their soul again.
Coming Soon
These features are still being added and may change during testing:
- Admin settings UI to configure which blocks are required for the altar structure and to adjust damage taken and damage dealt multipliers.
- Revive duration will take into account how long the soul has been dropped. The longer a player has been dead, the longer the ritual takes.
- If a revive lasts at least one minute, a Void Breach can spawn. The number of enemies scales with how many players are in the chunk.
- Custom sounds and particle effects.
This mod is currently in testing. Bugs, balance issues, and unclear mechanics may still occur. Please leave a comment or send me a direct message if you find anything that does not work as intended.
