The first release. Find the hidden Moon Pool, claim a locket under the full moon, and grow a tail ten seconds after water touches you. A free fan mod inspired by H2O: Just Add Water and Mako: Island of Secrets.

The Moon Pool:

A hidden grotto that generates naturally on the shallow shelves of tropical islands, about one tropical island in four and never more than one per island. Inside: a pool open to the night sky, glowing crystals, and an underwater tunnel a mermaid can swim straight in through. Moon Pools only appear in terrain generated after the mod is installed.

The Lockets and the Full Moon:

Stand in the Moon Pool's water while the full moon is high (9 PM to 3 AM in-game, every fifth night) and the moonlight gives you a silver locket with a blue, clear, or red stone. Each locket is bound to the player who received it, so nobody else can use yours. Lost it? Come back at the next full moon for a new one with the same stone, and every older copy goes dark. Players without a locket are told in chat when a full moon is coming.

The Transformation:

Carry your own locket, and any touch of water -- swimming, wading, or rain and snow under the open sky -- starts a ten-second countdown with a shimmer and a sound. Then you have your tail. In the water you get a swim boost and never run out of breath. On land you're beached, slower with lower jumps, until you're completely dry again: about thirty seconds in shade or at night, quicker in the sun or next to lava, fire, or a burning campfire. Chest and leg armor are hidden while you have a tail (purely visual: the armor still protects you).

Tails:

Two tails, picked freely with /moonpool tail: the bronze-orange Mermaid tail with a broad crescent fluke and a matching scale top, and the blue Merman tail with a pointed fluke. The merman keeps your own underwear top unless you turn it off with /moonpool tail top off. Both come with a full set of swim and land animations.

Your Locket in Human Form:

Carry your own locket and you wear it at your throat, over your clothes, in your stone's color. It tucks away under chest armor and the few tops too bulky for it.

For Server Owners:

Every timing is configurable across four config files (Config.json, Transform.json, Locket.json, Pool.json): the countdown, drying off, the ritual window, reclaiming lockets, how rare Moon Pools are, and more. Admin commands: /moonpool locket give|inspect|reset, /moonpool moon status, and /moonpool pool list|nearest. Admin permissions are never given to players by default.

Compatibility:

Designed for Hytale Update 7 (Server 0.7.2 and later 0.7.x). Needs no other mod. It can run next to Mermaids and Mythical Creatures: when both are installed, any player Mermaids can transform is left to Mermaids.
