What's new

GlymeraSpawner — Changelog

v10.0.0 (2026-10-17) — no stray creature after a restart, Void eggs work again, 7 new spawn eggs

  • Fix: after a server restart, a real creature of the loaded kind could appear next to a spawner and walk away (reported for the Item Spawner; the Mob Spawner used the same path). To learn a creature's look and loot, the plugin briefly spawns it above the block and removes it again. Right after a restart, in the moment a player arrives, the area around the spawner is loaded but not yet active. Hytale does not spawn a creature into such an area; it keeps it aside and releases it later as a normal, saved creature, which the plugin could not remove (the fix in 9.0.0 only covered the case where the creature had really spawned). The plugin now waits until the area is active before it does this, so nothing is kept aside any more. The miniature and the first loot may take a moment longer to appear after a restart. Creatures that already appeared this way are ordinary creatures and are not removed automatically.
  • Fix: the Void Spawn and Void Spectre eggs did nothing since Hytale 0.7. Hytale renamed both creatures; the eggs still pointed at the old names. They spawn again, spawners loaded with them work again (also ones loaded before this update), and the Mystery Spawn Egg can no longer hand out an egg that does not exist. The egg items themselves are unchanged, so eggs already in inventories and chests keep working.
  • New: 7 spawn eggs for creatures added in Hytale 0.7: Void Tentacle, Voidtaken Grizzly, Revenant Guardian, Feastmaster, Goblin Burner, Goblin Glutton and Goblin Guardian (186 eggs in total). They work in both spawners and can come out of the Mystery Spawn Egg. Existing eggs keep their colours.
  • Upgrade: replace the jar in mods/, keep the plugin's data folder and restart the server.

v9.0.0 (2026-10-16) — no creature on top of the spawner after a restart, miniature spin can be switched off

  • Fix: after a server restart, the loaded creature could appear standing on top of a spawner. To learn what a creature looks like, the plugin briefly spawns the real creature above the block and removes it a moment later. On Hytale 0.7 the handle used for that removal goes stale within a tick, so the removal sometimes missed and the creature stayed there (once per creature kind, right after a restart). The removal now goes by the creature's id, and a sweep every two seconds removes any left-over probe creature standing on a spawner. Only these probes are touched: never the creatures a spawner really spawns, and never your own animals.
  • The miniature inside the glass block is no longer written to the world save. It is recreated whenever a player is near, so a restart cannot bring back an old copy of it.
  • New: displaySpin (default true). Set it to false and the miniature stands still instead of slowly turning.
  • Breaking a spawner hands the block back using a fresh handle of the player, and the miniature is removed with a fresh handle too (same 0.7 cause as above).
  • Every setting in config.json now has its explanation directly above it (_name lines), refreshed on every start; your values are kept. The config path is printed in the server log on startup. A config.json that cannot be read is left untouched, with a warning in the log, and the defaults are used until it is fixed.
  • Upgrade: replace the jar in mods/, keep the plugin's data folder and restart the server.

v8.0.0 (2026-10-12) — Hytale 0.7.0 (Update 7)

  • Rebuilt for Hytale 0.7.0 (Update 7 / Chapter 1). Requires server 0.7.0 or newer; this version does not run on 0.6.x, and the previous version does not run on 0.7.0 (the server removed the old block and chunk API).
  • Migrated to the 0.7.0 world API: block reads and writes now go through the chunk store and block sections (BlockOperations), chunk ticking through the engine's new marker component, spawn points through the asynchronous spawn provider.
  • Mod icon added (icon-256.png in the jar) so the plugin shows its picture in the world's mod list instead of a question mark.
  • Upgrade: delete the old jar from mods/, drop in the new one and keep the plugin's data folder — configs and saved data carry over unchanged. Restart the server.
  • Fix (0.7.0 asset renames): Hytale renamed the vanilla NPC roles Spawn_Void → Void_Spawn and Spectre_Void → Void_Spectre; the plugin now uses the new names for the Void spawn eggs.

v7.0.0 (2026-09-02)

Fixed: breaking an Item Spawner no longer duplicates its contents

  • When an Item Spawner was broken, everything in its inventory was handed to the player and dropped on the ground by the game's own container handling, so every stored item came out twice. This affected both items the spawner had produced and items a player had placed inside.
  • The plugin no longer hands the contents to the player. Breaking an Item Spawner now behaves like breaking a chest: the contents drop on the ground once, and the spawner block itself is returned to you with its loaded creature preserved, as before.

v5.0.0

New: spawners respect plot borders (with GlymeraPlotWorld)

  • On a plot world, a Mob Spawner never spawns creatures outside its own plot — never onto the road, never into a neighbouring plot — no matter how large its spawn radius is set. The check is merge‑aware: across a set of merged plots, the whole joined area counts as inside.
  • Because of this, a spawner placed right at a plot edge or in a corner spawns a little less often: a spot that would land outside the plot is simply skipped for that interval. This is intentional — it stops players from cheesing an oversized spawn area by hugging a border.
  • Outside a plot world, or on a server without GlymeraPlotWorld installed, nothing changes — the spawner uses its full radius exactly as before.

Fixed: creatures no longer spawn inside blocks or floating in the air

  • Each spawn now snaps to the ground near the spawner's height and only spawns where there is actual room for the creature. No more mobs suffocating inside a wall or a hill, and no more mobs appearing in mid‑air and falling.
  • The vertical search is kept tight (new config key spawnVerticalBand, default 4 blocks up/down). This also means a huge spawn radius cannot reach up a cliff or down into a shaft — spots whose ground is too far above or below the spawner are skipped.

Other

  • New config key: spawnVerticalBand (default 4).

v4.0.0

Fixed: the spinning miniature inside a spawner no longer takes damage

  • The little spinning creature shown inside each spawner sits inside the solid glass block, which made the game treat it as if it were suffocating. It slowly lost health and — far more noticeably — played a hurt sound and flinched on every tick, which everyone nearby could see and hear.
  • The display creature is now completely immune to damage, so it just spins quietly: no health drain, no hurt sound, no flinching.
  • This only affects the decorative miniature. The real creatures a Mob Spawner spawns nearby are untouched and take and deal damage exactly as before.

v3.0.0

Fixed: loading a spawner no longer leaves a creature sitting on it

  • A spawn egg always spawns its creature when it is used — including when you use one to load a spawner. That spawned creature is now reliably cleaned up: for ~5 seconds after loading, the spawner deletes any creature of exactly the type you just loaded that is sitting right on it (checked a few times a second).
  • It only ever targets the creature you just loaded, in a tight radius on the block — so the spinning miniature inside, your pets, and any other nearby animals are never touched.
  • The spawner's own brief "info" creature (spawned for a moment to read the loaded creature's model and loot) is likewise removed reliably now, instead of occasionally lingering on the block.

Fixed: spawners on protected ground no longer leave an unkillable creature

  • When a spawner's block was removed by something other than a normal break — for example a plot/claim plugin re‑asserting a path or road over it, TNT, a /setblock, or another plugin overwriting it — the spawner left no break event behind, so its registration survived as a "phantom". Its little in‑block display creature kept respawning itself with no block left to break, so it could not be removed by any means.
  • Spawners now notice when their block has been removed this way and clean themselves up: the display creature is removed and the spawner is handed back to its owner as an item (with its loaded creature preserved), exactly like a normal break. (An Item Spawner's stored inventory is lost in this case — the block, and with it the container, was already destroyed by the external source before the spawner could react.)
  • The detection is fail‑safe: it only ever acts when it can positively confirm the block is really gone, so a real, intact spawner can never be removed by mistake.
  • Spawners also no longer register at all if another protection plugin already blocked the placement.

v2.0.0

New: Item Spawner block

  • A second spawner block that looks exactly like the Mob Spawner but with purple glowing glass, so you can tell them apart at a glance.
  • It is a real container with a 27‑slot inventory. Instead of spawning creatures, it deposits the loaded creature's actual loot into its own inventory.
  • Drops are pulled straight from Hytale's own loot tables and rolled with the game's own loot logic, so you get exactly what that creature would drop when killed (averaged over time). Role inheritance is resolved correctly, so creatures whose own role file doesn't name a drop list still produce.
  • It produces whenever its chunk is loaded — no need to stand next to it — on the same interval as the Mob Spawner (spawnIntervalSeconds).
  • When the inventory is full it pauses, and automatically resumes once you take something out.
  • Loaded with a spawn egg exactly like the Mob Spawner (the spinning miniature updates to the new creature). Right‑click empty‑handed to open its inventory.
  • Breaking it keeps the loaded creature and returns any stored items.

New: Mystery Spawn Egg

  • A craftable golden egg that, the moment it is crafted, turns into a random spawn egg — one of all 179 creature eggs, each equally likely.

New: Crafting recipes (all at the Alchemybench, each individually toggleable in the config)

  • Mob Spawner — 10× Greater Essence of Life + 10× Fire Essence
  • Item Spawner — 10× Greater Essence of Life + 10× Ice Essence
  • Mystery Spawn Egg — 8× Greater Essence of Life + 10× Void Essence + 10× Water Essence
  • When a recipe is disabled it still shows at the bench, but the craft is blocked (admins can still hand the items out).

New: Ownership protection

  • Spawners now remember who placed them. Only the owner and server OPs can break a spawner, re-load it with a spawn egg, or open an Item Spawner's inventory — other players get a "belongs to someone else" message.
  • Non-owners can't even start mining a spawner (block damage is blocked), so the lock can't be chipped through.
  • The break handler now also respects other protection plugins, so it no longer risks bypassing claim/plot protection.
  • Spawners placed before this update have no recorded owner and stay unprotected until re-placed.

Other

  • New config keys: recipeMobSpawnerEnabled, recipeItemSpawnerEnabled, recipeMysteryEggEnabled (all default true).
  • New command: /gsp giveitem — give yourself an Item Spawner (OP).
  • The config file is now normalized on load, so newly added keys appear automatically in an existing config.json (your tuned values are kept).

v1.0.0

  • Initial release: 179 spawn eggs (one uniquely colored egg per creature; left‑click to spawn + consume) and a glowing glass Mob Spawner block that shows the loaded creature as a spinning miniature, loads from spawn eggs, spawns the creature Minecraft‑style near players, keeps its creature when broken, and is fully configurable and persistent.
