Pistons keep the orientation of the blocks they move.

• Fixed: a block pushed or pulled by a piston was turned to its default facing (south). Bookshelves, roof pieces, stairs, furniture and every other directional block lost their orientation on every move — reported while building a secret door out of bookshelves. The game stores a block's facing separately from the block itself, and the piston only carried the block. Moved blocks now keep their rotation: single blocks, chains of up to 12, honey-glued groups, and the sticky piston's pull-back.
• Not affected: ores and other blocks with a randomised look. Their appearance is picked by the client from the position, nothing is stored server-side, so they can still look different after a move.
• No extra cost: one lookup per moved block, nothing while idle.
