Gaia is a project to create a more realistic world generation style for Orbis while maintaining nice details at a reasonable render distance scale and including the fantasy elements of Hytale.

Some features I plan to add:
Large continuous rivers (great for build medieval cities around)

Very detailed mountains with angle based snow and soil placement and semi-realistic erosion shapes

Smooth and flowing terrain that's useful for large builds while still being detailed enough to look interesting from 12 chunk render distance

Mod is in early development

I currently only have a little bit of the world generation set up, and it doesn't currently replace default generation. If you want to access the custom generation, do the following:

Install the mod when creating the world (or after)
type /instances

Current list of test worlds:

Gaia_Map_Test -- previews a biome map with a single large continent surrounded by ocean. Random continents and islands spawn very far out. Uses block colors to represent biomes and scales it way down to easily see the pattern and shape
Gaia_Test_Mountains -- Mountain ranges using cell boundary noise
Gaia_Test_Mountains_Basic -- Same, but without any props or texturing beyond snow and dirt
Gaia_Test_Mountains_Simplex -- Another mountain design using Simplex noise
