What's new

DapperMap 3.0.0 brings an improved user experience and significant code optimisation to improve the dapper minimap experience in Hytale!

V3.0.0 changes include:

HUD appearance and positioning

  • Introduced textured circular and square compass bezels inspired by the DapperMap logo.
  • Added intermediate compass ticks and colour customisation.
  • Synchronised accepted terrain rotation with bezel rotation.
  • Adjusted terrain masking to reduce texture showing outside the bezel.
  • Moved edge markers above the frame layer so the bezel no longer covers them.
  • Refined purple trim thickness, inner transparency and minor-tick placement.
  • Adjusted edge markers closer to the inner bezel while maintaining compass-label clearance.
  • Fixed marker positioning at larger interface scales and map sizes.
  • Fixed information headings/readouts becoming misplaced after changing panel position and text alignment.

Settings interface

  • Enlarged section headings, option labels, descriptions and toggle-state text.
  • Enabled native width-based description wrapping and reduced excess spacing before controls.
  • Consolidated Position and Colours into the shared settings editor.
  • Removed redundant standalone page controllers and UI templates.
  • Replaced dark navigation hover boxes with purple outlines and cyan pressed outlines.
  • Compacted fine-position slider rows and added scrolling to prevent overflow.
  • Fixed the unsupported height selector that caused client disconnections.
  • Matched Integrations button spacing and font size to the other tabs.
  • Reordered and renamed information controls to: Coordinates, Bearing, World Time, Clock Format, Region.

Commands and permissions

  • Audited command coverage against the current settings.
  • Added player and administrator panel-alignment commands.
  • Added player and administrator creature-limit commands.
  • Added help commands and expanded help/status output.
  • Added bearing, region and world-time aliases.
  • Reused the corresponding UI permissions for the new commands.
  • Retained separate player-command and administrator permission branches.

BetterMap integration

  • Added independent controls for the master integration, waypoint markers and cave terrain.
  • Improved cave-image change detection and reuse.
  • Bounded asynchronous image requests, duplicate requests and retained results.
  • Improved integration cleanup and request expiry.

Marker scanning and updates

  • Reduced static Hytale and BetterMap marker scans to approximately once every two seconds.
  • Retained faster updates for moving creature and player markers.
  • Improved creature scanning and nearest-creature selection.
  • Added a selectable creature-marker limit: 16 by default, 32 or 64.
  • Stabilised marker ordering and slot assignment to reduce unnecessary UI changes.
  • Reduced repeated marker texture, position and visibility updates.
  • Added edge-marker rate limiting and movement thresholds to reduce bouncing.
  • Preserved distant integration markers on the minimap edge regardless of distance.
  • Improved edge-marker placement around compass labels.

Performance and memory management

  • Improved cleanup when players disconnect, change worlds or leave temporary instances.
  • Added guards against queued renders delivering results to stopped worlds or disabled HUDs.
  • Bounded image requests, render caches and asset-publication history.
  • Reduced repeated image encoding, allocation and publication when content is unchanged.
  • Separated terrain, bezel, markers, panel graphics and text updates to reduce unnecessary rendering and network traffic.
  • Replaced image-based information readouts with native Hytale UI text.
  • Changed text updates to send only rows whose displayed values have changed.
  • Adjusted frame and player-arrow cache budgets.
  • Improved terrain image reuse and rotation rendering.
