What's new

v0.7.0 - Many Roads

Until now a server knew exactly one thing about you: your realm, on your own HUD, where only you could see it. This release is about the other direction -- what everyone else can see. Cultivators give off Qi you can read from across a field, sects fly a banner over their hall, and the moments that matter arrive on screen instead of scrolling past in chat. And underneath all of it: you can now keep more than one cultivator.

Beta disclaimer: This mod is still in beta. Existing worlds, player progress, sects, abodes and beasts all carry over -- no reset needed, and your config files are left exactly as they are. Your current cultivator becomes your first profile automatically.

Cultivation Profiles

  • You can now keep up to three separate cultivators on one account and switch between them freely. Start again from Body Refinement without throwing away the Nascent Soul cultivator you spent a month on -- and go back whenever you like.
  • A profile carries everything you became: realm, stage and Qi, race, dao alignment, the skill tree, learned techniques and their keybind layouts.
  • Your sect, cave abode, formations and marriage stay with your account and are shared by every profile. A sect has other members and a hall other sects can besiege; an abode is claimed ground. Switching changes who you are, never what you own.
  • Manage them from the new Profiles page on the menu bar, or with /cultivation profile. Starting a fresh cultivator and erasing a save both ask you to confirm.
  • Your current cultivator becomes Profile 1 the first time you look, so there is nothing to set up.

Auras -- Qi You Can See

  • Every cultivator now gives off an aura that says what they are at a glance. Realm sets its color and how thickly it pours off you -- earthy bronze at Body Refinement, climbing through jade and gold to a void indigo at Void Refinement -- and your sub-stage sets its size, so a Peak cultivator visibly stands wider than an Early one of the same realm.
  • Sitting down to meditate gives you a second, different aura: where the realm aura rises and spreads, this one converges inward -- Qi being drawn out of the land toward you. It deepens the longer you sit, through three stages, and stops when the vein beneath you runs dry.
  • Three switches in Settings: whether you give off an aura at all, whether you see your own, and whether you see everyone else's. The last is the one to reach for on a busy server.
  • Server owners can switch auras off entirely, or retune how often they pulse, from the config.

Titles

  • Cultivators now earn cosmetic titles -- one for each realm, one for each dao element, one for each side of the Righteous/Devil split, ranks for a sect's leader and elders, and a capstone for reaching the peak of Void Refinement.
  • Equip one from the new Titles page. It shows above your head and in chat, and follows you onto the rankings and your sect's roster.
  • Titles you have not earned stay on the list, greyed, telling you what unlocks them -- rather than hiding until they appear from nowhere.

Sect Halls -- Beacons and Banners

  • A claimed sect hall now raises a standing column of light visible to anyone walking past, not just its own members. A hall is a real, contestable presence in the world instead of a record only its sect knows about.
  • Sects can fly a banner over that hall, chosen by the leader or an elder. Six to pick from: the Four Symbols -- Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise -- plus Golden Court and Jade Terrace.
  • Choose one from the sect menu or with /sect banner. Lose the hall to a siege and the light goes back to whatever the vein wanted to be -- which is how a valley tells you its owners have changed before any messenger does.
  • A sect with no hall can still pick its banner; it simply goes up the moment one is claimed.

===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===--===

The World Map

  • Every claimed sect hall is now pinned on Hytale's own world map, tinted with that sect's banner color and labelled with its name.
  • Your cave abode is marked, and so are the formations you or your sect control -- colored by what the array does, so a map full of them reads without opening a single label.
  • Only your arrays. A Trapping array's whole value is that the person walking into it did not know, and publishing every one to every map would quietly disable the mechanic.

Moments That Land

  • Breaking into a new realm now takes over the screen with a title, as it should -- and every cultivator within nine chunks is told. A breakthrough is a thing that happens to the area, not only to you.
  • Advancing a sub-stage and being demoted out of one get their own titles, sized to what they mean.
  • Smaller things -- unlocking a skill node, a Life-Bound Treasure gaining a level, a respec, a ritual beginning -- now arrive as corner notifications instead of scrolling past. Every one still says its piece in chat too, so nothing becomes unrecoverable the instant it fades.
  • Joining or leaving a sect is marked with a title, and it carries the sect's motto underneath -- the one line of a sect that is genuinely its leader's, said at the moment it means something.
  • Owners can switch titles and notifications off separately, and set how far a breakthrough is felt -- or make it private.

The HUD and Menus

  • The HUD gained a sect line naming the sect you belong to, sitting with realm and Qi -- and switchable off like every other line.
  • The keybinds page now shows how many technique layouts you are keeping against how many you may.
  • A new Profiles page joins the menu bar, beside Settings.

For Server Owners

  • A test profile for anyone granted cultivation.profile.test -- a sandbox cultivator whose realm, stage, Qi, skill points and race you set by hand, for trying balance changes out without touching your real character.
  • It requires a time limit when granted and dissolves on its own when that runs out, putting the player back on their own cultivator. The limit is wall-clock, so it cannot be waited out by logging off.
  • A test cultivator is kept out of the rankings, out of sect scores and off sect rosters -- a realm that was typed should never outrank one that was earned. It also does not use one of your three profile slots.

For Add-on Authors

  • The API is up to 144 events across eleven subsystems. New this release: profiles (switch, create, erase, expiry) and sect banners, each with cancellable pre-events.
  • If your mod keeps progression of its own, ProfileEvents is how you keep it in step with a player's saves -- and ProgressionProvider.supportsProfiles() is how you tell Cultivation you have. Until you do, profile switching is refused rather than half-performed.
  • Three more open registries: registerTitle puts your own cosmetic titles on the Titles page, registerSectBanner adds banners sects can fly, and registerPalette lets a mod re-color every Cultivation menu and the HUD.
  • Both the technique-layout and profile caps are raisable by an add-on through the API, and nothing is ever destroyed when a cap falls -- a player keeps everything they filled and is only refused a new one.
  • Full API reference, guides and worked examples remain at https://xianxia.dev/.

Cultivation has spent six releases building a character. This is the one that puts that character where other people can see it -- and then lets you keep three of them. Feedback welcome!
