π Corruption 0.8.9
A living corruption system with crystal purification networks, 6 void creature types, a phased boss encounter, 2 full armor sets, 3 special weapons, and persistent world state -- designed to transform Hytale into a survival-strategy experience where the world itself fights back.
Corruption transforms Hytale's open world into a ticking clock. A creeping hive corruption spreads outward from a single origin, spawning intelligent void creatures that hunt your crystal defenses while you build purification networks to reclaim the land block by block. It retaliates when you destroy crystals, escalates to a boss fight at 50,000 corrupted blocks, and doesn't stop until you purify every last block -- or it consumes everything.
β¨ Features
π¦ Living Corruption -- Organic hive corruption that spreads outward from a single origin point, consuming terrain up to 4 blocks deep beneath the surface.
- Spawns once per world at the first player's location -- persistent across server restarts
- Spreads organically into nearby terrain, prioritizing natural ground for a realistic expansion pattern
- Standing in corruption drains stamina and applies a purple corruption overlay that impairs your vision
- Reclamation surges hit 5x speed for 20 seconds when a crystal is destroyed -- the corruption fights to reclaim lost ground
- All progress persists across server restarts -- corrupted blocks, purified blocks, crystal positions, and victory state are all saved
π Crystal Purification -- Place crystals in the world to push back the corruption. Crystals come in 3 sizes and 8 colors, each with unique placement conditions for maximum power.
- Small crystals have a 3-block radius, Medium have a 5-block radius, Large have an 8-block radius
- Crystals purify in a sphere around them, clearing the nearest corrupted blocks within their range
- 8 crystal colors: β¬ White (no condition), π΅ Blue (near water), π©΅ Cyan (near snow), π’ Green (near grass/dirt), π΄ Red (near lava), π‘ Yellow (daytime only), π©· Pink (nighttime only), π£ Purple (stealth -- always reduced power)
- Pair Yellow and Pink crystals together for 24/7 purification coverage
π Crystal Block Networks -- Connect Crystal Blocks together like cables to create powerful purification networks.
- Crystal Blocks provide 3x the purification rate of standalone crystals
- Attach standalone crystals to a network to extend its range
- Networks combine the purification power of all connected Crystal Blocks and the range of all attached crystals
- A network of 5 Crystal Blocks with 2 attached crystals purifies dramatically faster than individual placements
πΎ Void Creatures -- The corruption spawns hostile void creatures every 15 seconds once 50+ blocks are corrupted. Up to 60 mobs can exist at once. Each has a distinct combat role and targeting priority.
- βοΈ Seeker (33% spawn rate) -- Ground melee with longsword combos. Targets all crystals with Crystal Block priority. The most common threat.
- π·οΈ Crawler (17%) -- Fastest ground mob with rapid melee attacks. Only targets standalone crystals -- your isolated defenses are their prey.
- π Larva (17%) -- Ground mob that spreads corruption. Walks away from existing corruption and corrupts the ground beneath it, expanding the hive's reach.
- ποΈ Eye (17%) -- Flying mob with explosive blast attacks (radius 2). Hard to reach and tunnels through obstacles to reach crystals.
- π» Spectre (17%) -- Flying melee. Evasive and targets all crystals.
- π Necromancer (Rare) -- Ranged corruption orb attacks. Spawns 2 Crawler minions every 10 seconds (capped at 8 total). Kill on sight -- left unchecked, they build an army.
- All void creatures heal while standing in corruption (unless burning) and share the same targeting priorities: crystals first, then non-Onyxium players, then follow Onyxium players without attacking
π Hedera -- The Corruption Boss -- When corruption reaches 50,000 blocks, the Hedera boss emerges from the corruption origin.
- 1,130 HP with 60% damage reduction (~2,825 effective HP)
- 3x model scale -- you'll see her coming
- Screech Attack summons waves of void minions every 15 seconds (up to 18 summoned mobs)
- Smashes a 5-wide tunnel toward the target player every tick -- walls will not stop her
- 5-second grace period after spawning before becoming hostile
- Nearby void mobs within 50 blocks join her fight every 2 seconds
- π‘ Recommended loadout: Full Prisma armor + Prisma Mace (burn prevents her healing). Bring backup crystals -- her minions will assault your purification network during the fight.
π€ Onyxium Armor -- Void Ally -- Wear the full set and become one with the corruption.
- π Corruption heals you -- standing in corruption restores 5 HP/tick instead of damaging
- π‘οΈ Void damage immunity -- void mob attacks deal zero damage (100% negated)
- π₯ Environment immunity -- lava, fire, and cactus damage fully negated
- βοΈ Fire immunity -- burning effect removed instantly
- π€ Void allies -- all void creatures follow you without attacking
- π£ Corruption footsteps -- corrupts a 3x3 area of ground beneath you as you walk, spreading the hive
- No void essence drops -- void mobs you kill drop nothing
- Exempt from corruption effects -- no stamina drain, no corruption overlay
β¨ Prisma Armor -- Crystal Champion -- Wear the full set and become the corruption's worst enemy.
- π‘οΈ 75% damage reduction from all sources
- π Purification aura -- passively purifies corrupted blocks in a 5-block radius around you as you move
- π Crystal-Step purification -- walking on corrupted blocks purifies them (15s cooldown)
- π Crystal heal -- standing on crystal blocks restores 10 HP/tick
- π― Draws mob aggro -- void mobs prioritize targeting you over crystals (protect your network by being the bait)
- Exempt from corruption effects -- no stamina drain, no corruption overlay
π¨ Prisma Mace -- 80% bonus damage vs void mobs, 30% fire damage, applies BURN for 5 seconds. Burning void creatures cannot heal -- essential for Hedera and tough fights.
βοΈ Mithril Pickaxe -- Doubles crystal ingredient drops when breaking crystals.
βοΈ Onyxium Pickaxe -- Converts crystal drops to void essence instead of crystal ingredients.
π Crystal Drops -- Breaking crystals yields ingredients based on size: Small (1), Medium (2), Large (3), Crystal Block (5).
π Victory Condition -- Purify every single corrupted block to defeat the corruption. The world must have seen at least 500 corrupted blocks before victory can be achieved. After winning, any remaining stray corruption is automatically cleaned up.
π¬ Commands
All commands use the /corruption prefix:
/corruption start-- Start or resume corruption spread/corruption stop-- Pause spread (crystals keep purifying)/corruption seed-- Place a corruption seed at your feet/corruption clear-- Wipe all corruption and reset the world/corruption speed [1-1000]-- Set spread rate (default: 1)/corruption limit [1K-5M]-- Set frontier cap (default: 50,000)/corruption purify [1-100]-- Set purification speed multiplier/corruption reclaim [1-100]-- Set reclamation aggressiveness/corruption queue [100-10K]-- Per-crystal queue limit (default: 2,500)/corruption status-- Show full statistics and diagnostics
π Strategy Tips
- β¬ Start with White Crystals -- full power everywhere, no placement conditions needed
- π Build Crystal Block networks early -- dramatically multiplies your purification rate
- π‘οΈ Protect your crystals -- void creatures are relentless crystal hunters; losing a crystal triggers a reclamation surge
- π Use environmental colors -- Blue by water, Green by grass for maximum power output
- π Day/Night combo -- Yellow + Pink crystals together = 24/7 purification coverage
- π Kill Necromancers first -- they spawn endless Crawlers if left alive
- β οΈ Don't linger in corruption unarmored -- stamina drain + vision impairment will get you killed
- π Monitor with
/corruption status-- track corruption vs purification rates in real time - π Prepare for Hedera at 50K blocks -- bring your best gear and backup crystals
- π₯ Prisma Mace burns prevent healing -- essential for tough void creatures and the Hedera boss fight
πΎ Persistence
Everything persists across server restarts:
- Corrupted and purified blocks (physical world changes)
- Crystal and Crystal Block positions (automatically recovered on load)
- Corruption origin and victory state
- Crystal Networks (automatically rebuilt from detected Crystal Blocks on load)
Spawned mobs respawn naturally on the next spawn cycle.
