ComesAlive — Races
"The only thing I miss is some way to edit, at least, the look of the villagers, to give them a certain identity or an overall theme — for example, what if they were all elves, or goblins in the village?"
That comment is where this update comes from. Villagers used to arrive human and random, and you had no say in it. Now you choose who comes, and you can see them before they do.
Choosing who comes
Right-click the Villager Contract and a villager is already waiting — with a name, a sex, a race and a face. They stand there next to the menu, in 3D, looking at you.
Most of the time you just look and press Call. Everything el
- Send someone else — a whole new villager: another name, another face.
- Race — pick who comes.
- Adjust their face — for the human races.
Change anything and they update right there in front of you. Whaves.
The races
Thirteen to choose from:
| Race | |
|---|---|
| Human | Fully editable face. |
| Kweebec | Leaf and flower folk. Waves hello, and the liveliest of the peaceful races. |
| Elder Kweebec | A grown kweebec, taller and plainer. |
| Feran | Hunters of the plains. |
| Klops | One-eyed traders. |
| Slothian | Quiet jungle folk. |
| Trork | Fierce-looking, and full of gestures of their own. |
| Goblin | The same, with the widest range of gestures of all. |
| Elf · Ogre · Demon · Feline · Reptilian | Long ears, ogre ears, or cat, reptile and demonic eyes. Everything else is still yours to |
| adjust. |
Trorks and goblins may look fierce, but a trork villager is a villager: it lives in your house, talks to you and never raises a hand.
The face editor
For the human races you can pick:
- Ears — 6, from plain to long elven to ogre
- Eyes — 10 shapes, from almond to cat, reptile and demonic
- Eye colour — 18, on a grid of real colours
- Face — 18
- Build — regular or muscular
- Skin tone — 47, on a grid of real colours
Colours are picked from a grid you can actually see, not from a
Clothes and hair are not editable, on purpose. They are theirs, and all you can do is roll them again. A villager should look like a neighbour, not like a chara
A theme for your village
The village registry has a new decree: Village theme. It setected when you use a contract inside that village, so a village of kweead of one per villager.
It pre-selects, it does not force. Mixing races is still one click away.
Every race moves like itself
Each race now uses its own gestures. A kweebec waves when you waback, a goblin combs its hair and fiddles with its glasses. They sit dowtheir own kind does, and villagers greet you when you come near.
The inn brings everyone
The inn is where travellers you never called turn up on their ow — most of them from races other than human, evenly spread. Humans alreabirth.
Whatever theme your village has, the inn ignores it: a traveller is, after all, someone from elsewhere.
Children
- Same-race parents have a child of their race.
- Parents of different races have an even chance of either.
- A player parent counts as human, so your child with a trork has an even chance of each.
- Children still take after their parents: human children inherit their face from both, and a kweebec child inherits its leaves — or a goblin child its clothares its race.
For server owners
In the mod config you can:
- Turn the picker off, so contracts bring a random villager with
- Restrict which races are available (human is always there).
- Set how often inn travellers are non-human.
- Turn the ambient gestures off if you prefer your village still
Villagers from before this update keep their faces and carry on by hand.
Good to know
Villagers of the non-human races work exactly as well as anyone visible tool while they do it.
