What's new

ComesAlive — 31 July 2026

Now works with two land claim systems

ComesAlive no longer depends on SimpleClaims alone: it also works with QuestLines Claims. The mod detects which one you have installed and uses it — nothing to configure.

  • With both installed, SimpleClaims wins, so existing villages are not disturbed.
  • With only one of them, that one is used.
  • With neither, the mod still runs: no villages and no land filter, exactly as it behaved before those mods were installed.

Everything that relies on land ownership stays just as strict with either system: a hired villager cannot break anything where their employer could not break it by hand, villagers do not open other people's doors, and the village fence walks

Fixed: the village showed no buildings after switching land claim systems

If you switched claim mods, /aldea reported **0houses were still standing on the same ground, and the Refresh button did not help (it kept saying "0 new buildings" over and over).

Refresh now adopts the buildings that sit ofiled under another village, and moves their residents along with ttory: a house belongs to whoever owns the ground it stands on. This also covers the day a claim changes hands.

Coming from a save with a mismatched registry: open /aldea and press Refresh once. The buildings find their way back on their own.

Other changes

  • The interface no longer names SimpleClaims specclaim mod is missing and points at both supported ones.

For server admins

  • New claimsBackend setting in config.json: auto (default), simpleclaims, questlines, or none to turn villages and the land filter off entirely. The field appears on its own at startup.
  • On startup the log states the choice: ComesAli.
  • Both mods are optional dependencies: neither is bundled, and both are resolved at runtime. Detection is retried, because QuestLines loads
  • ⚠️ Each system identifies land its own way, so switching from one to the other creates fresh villages rather than inheriting the old ones.ng them would hand over houses and residents of land that now belongs to someone else. Rebuild the registry with Refresh.
