Description
The precariousness that arose from Varyn's plot against Gaia and Orbis, has left many fighting together and abiding in one another. Little Cohm admired this, practiced it and left the world with summonable companions to aid Orbis!
Mod Notes:
This is my very first modpack, that requires S3B4S5C's Summon Lib Dependency. It is NEEDED and WILL NOT WORK without it.
I always loved playing Summoner in Terraria and with the current 'summons' leaving much to be desired, I skulked around to discover S3B4S5C's plugin and demo mods such as the [Nightwing Summons](https://www.curseforge.com/hytale/mods/nightwing-summons "Nightwing Summons) and Terraprism Mods. This is my favorite plugin to work with and I see a lot of potential here so I highly reccomend following them and giving their demo Mods a look along side this one. They're pretty much compatible save for an odd interaction or two.
My main goal for this version of the mod is to create craftable summoning gear based on each Zone of Hytale that gradually scale more and more in strength and summoning capabilities. This current version introduces a workbench, its core resource to use, and a few summons based mostly on the Azure Forest materials and one based on the Emerald fields.
Summon Weapons Controls
Left Click: Summon
R: Remove last summon
Right Click: Alternate weapon action
Version 1 Patch Notes
Blocks
Cohm's Tome of Companions
A workbench heavily based on the Arcane Table. Craft Essences of Bonds, Summoning Weapons and Armors that further boost your summoning capabilities. Feel free to read his notes listed on the items too to know about Cohm's story and history with the companions and bonds he made.
Essence of Bonds
Convert Essences of Life into Essences of Bonds to craft summoning gear! Some humble farming is requeired.
Summons
Bonded Leaves Staff
All Bond Druid Summoners' first summon. Summmons leaves enchanted by Essences of Bonds and is essentially your weakest, starter summon should you be lucky to find it in small chests in Zone 1 [Not High Roll Chests]
Sticks 'N' Stones
An extremely Early Game summon. A some Rubble, Some Sticks and just a little bit of Azure Materials and you can sommon Crude Spears to stab mobs with, even for a little cheap damage that isn't much.
Additional note: I cannot animate to save my life… So the spears just… orbit menacingly around hostile mobs… I'll update it eventually once I figure it out.
Chesire Cat Staff
Using materials from the Azure Woods, you can summon adorable Chesire Cats to swarm and do decent damage on your enemies.
Woody Wand
The First flying Summon you can buy from a Rootling Merchant for Essences of Bonds! Summon these cute Woodpeckers to deal some… unpleasant pecking.
Funny Bone
Dropped from Zone 1 Skeleton Fighters! Summon your cute rosy bonded Numb Skulls to deal decent damage.
Good Boys Rod
Garunteed to drop from Trork Shamans! Who's your good boys? It's this summon!
Brent Mix
With enough meat, iron and an emerald (it's a weird feast…), craft this Bag - with up to 6 summoning slots needed - to summon Brent! One of Cohm's friends reincarnated as an emerald charged grizzly bear to swoop at enemies for big damage.
Armors
Bond Druid Novice Set
The Bond Druids' first Ensemble. Enchanted by Essences of Bonds. A standard summoning set for beginning your summoning journey! Found in small chests around the Zone 1 [Not High Roll Chests!]
Azure Wood Set
An Early Game Summoning set using Azure Materials. It is not much since it is wood but it will give you plenty of early game summoning slots for more companions to summon!
Kweebec Shaman Cap and Cuirass
The golden leaved gear of the Kweebec Shamans who practice summoning! Can be bought by Rootling Merchants for Essence of Bonds.
Brent's Set
The Armor with enough summoning slots to summon Brent! You may need to go hunting for a lot of Grizzlies however…
Lunar Disciple's Hood A Luminecent Hood that provides the best initial summoning damage for zone 1 and 2 additional slots! Found in Overgrown temple chests in Zone 1!
Cresecnt Cane A decent hitting cane that summons Moon Stones to radiate over enemies! Also found in Overgrown Temple Chests in Zone 1!
Some Author Notes
I am but an amatuer when it comes to modding, but for what it was worth, I am honestly impressed how open source Hytale Modding is to allow even inexperienced people like me who never learnt how to code, to have fun and create such packs together with other engines / plugins etc.
I am also an amatuer at BlockBench and making models. A lot of these, as you see, are essentially just rough recolors of existing mobs. I have some ideas on making unique models but it requires a lot of time and commitment to learn BlockBench, which I dont have much of really.
My lack of animation skills are evident with the Sticks n Stones summon. I had some basic animations, nothing spectacular but they just wont run on the model, which is why I may need to learn BlockBench a little more.
Also with how often Hytale Updates mess with mods, I mostly need to check in with the developer of the plugin first and then fiddle around so if it doesnt work on some updates I apologize.
I'm not gonna be fixated too hard on this modpack as a project and it will update whenever it gets updated. I don't intend to drop it on the spot.
Have fun, give feedback on how it runs and even some tips if you guys are willing when it comes to making models and animations!
"Model" Summon Adujstments as of 1.2
While I dont have a "summoner themed" weapon in mind at the moment, I thought I'd give the Summoning items with weapon animations, a change, they will now have a Summoning damage modifier. Bad news, the summons they posess will be significantly weaker when used alone (unless you stop using the weapon itself and let the summons do the work which… eh.) but when paired with the "headgear" of summoning armors they will deal their base damage as well as some additional damage. And when paired with other summons on field, it will buff them further.
What to expect sometime!
Summoning Weapons that drop from certain mobs - I am aiming to make some for Zone 1 Skeletons and Trork Shamans giving a drop; as well as from certain chests.
Off hand items that give additional summoning slot / damage buffs! I have an Azure Totem in the works but it has a weird interaction with staffs so you may find it in creative or something but it's not craftable yet.
Custom Rarity Types indicating the type of summon!
- Companion: Terraria-Like summons that take up one slot each
- Sentient: Non-Critter like object summons like Sticks N Stones
- Champion: The BIG, expensive summons that can give deal big damage.
And for armors
- Naturalist: An Early Game, Zone Themed set.
- Memento: Champion Summon Themed Set
- Major Update (sometime): Zone 2 Summons!
Known Issues
SummonLib Related Crashes - If you use certain summons - specifically the Model summons such as Sticks N Stones with armor sets an meet certain conditions, the world crashes. This is an egnine related issue I am checking in with its developer.
Summons Lingering - Should you use a sommon that uses NPCRoles, like Chesire Cat and either travel via warps or travel too quickly, the minions will stay spawned upon returning and just… linger around. I'm also investigating this and checking with the developer of the SummonLib engine on these issues.
Sticks 'n' Stones acting… weird. Not dealing damage in certain mods, freaking out, etc. I'm investigating it here and there.
The Summon Modifer Descriptions are displaying incorrectly. I believe this is a SummonLib related issue, because similar mods expierience the same.
Optional Mods I personally Reccomend!
S3B4S5C's Nightwing Summons and Terraprisma mods: For two extra summons unrelated to my modpack but use the SummonLib plugin. Also just because I want to give credit where credit is due.
Zuxaw_dev's RPG Leveling and Stats/Skills Mod: If this modpack makes things too easy, I reccomend installing this for harder enemy scaling, making Summoner Progression make sense. Though I have not made any unique leveling for summoning specifically, I have yet to learn how.
Alternatively you can also try it out with Airijko's Endless Leveling Mod: Although there isn't anything I have done to make it "compatible" with it. I'm going to test it myself and see how SummonLib interacts with this. Should it work and I enjoy it, I'll try to see if I can add anything to make it compatible in the far far future.
