Write a book

Hold a Book & Quill and use it to open the book. You see two pages at a time. The first page has a place for the title; the pages after it are for the story.

• Save keeps what you have written.
• Clear removes the two pages you are looking at.
• The arrows turn the page, with a paper sound.
• Keep going and the book adds more pages, up to 50.
• Closing the book also saves your draft.

Your words stay on that book, so dropping it, storing it, or giving it away does not erase them.

Sixteen covers

While you write, pick a cover. Each one is its own book, not a flat recolor: leather, metal, gems, and emblems all change.

Brown, Crimson, Scarlet, Orange, Gold, Olive, Emerald, Teal, Azure, Indigo, Violet, Magenta, Rose, Charcoal, Ivory, and Obsidian.

The cover you choose is the one other players see in hand, on a shelf, and open on a lectern.

Sign and share

Sign finishes the book. It takes your name as the author, and the book’s name becomes the title you wrote. Anyone who uses it can read it.

The author can open a signed book again and choose Edit to keep writing. Signing it once more publishes the new version. Server operators can edit any signed book.

Lectern

A marble lectern holds one book, open, for anyone passing by.

• Use it while holding a book to set the book down.
• Use it again to read. If the book is still a draft, you can keep writing, and the lectern updates as you save.
• Crouch and use it to open the slot, so you can place a book or take it back.
• An empty lectern, with empty hands, opens that same slot.

Bookshelf

A wooden bookshelf holds four books and shows each one sitting on the shelf, cover and all.

• Use it while holding a book to place that book in the first free spot.
• Use it with empty hands, or crouch and use it, to open the shelf and rearrange or take books out.

The book screen follows the player’s language: English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, Russian, Ukrainian, and Chinese.
