HapticTale — bHaptics Feedback for Hytale

HapticTale brings bHaptics feedback to your adventures in Hytale. This is a work-in-progress project developed in my spare time, and feedback and feature requests are always welcome!

Supported Hardware

  • bHaptics vests
  • bHaptics arm devices

Current Features (Beta)

  • Combat: Attack swings, directional hit feedback, blocking, and death.
  • Block Interactions: Mining, breaking, placing, and using blocks.
  • Inventory & Equipment: Item switching, equipment changes, crafting, and dropping items.
  • Movement: Landing, entering water, swimming, gliding, and mounted movement.
  • Other Feedback: Eating, bow drawing, healing, rain, and status effects.

Some effects depend on the actions and content available in the game. Patterns and intensity are still being refined.

Requirements

  • Hytale 0.6.4
  • Windows x64 on the computer providing haptic output
  • bHaptics Player with your devices connected

For remote multiplayer, the server must have the mod installed, and each player who wants haptic feedback needs the Windows Connect application. The server must also provide an accessible TCP connection for Connect.

Single-player hosts do not need Connect.

Installation & World Activation

  1. Download HapticTale_0.6.4.jar.
  2. Remove any previous HapticTale/HapticCraft JAR and place the new file in Hytale’s UserData/Mods folder. Keep only one version installed.
  3. Open Hytale and find the world you want to play.
  4. Open that world’s settings, go to the Mods section, and enable the mod. It may appear as bhapticsPlugin.
  5. Save the world settings.
  6. Launch bHaptics Player, check that your devices are connected, and start the world.

Installing the JAR alone is not enough—you must also enable the mod for each world where you want to use it.

For remote multiplayer, the server operator handles the server-side installation. Players then use the Windows Connect application to connect their haptic devices to the server’s feedback.

A Note About This Update

This update came together fairly quickly, so I haven’t been able to thoroughly test every gameplay situation, hardware setup, or multiplayer configuration yet.

If something doesn’t work, a pattern feels unnatural, or the feedback seems too strong or too weak, please leave a comment! Include what you were doing, which devices you use, and whether you were playing solo or on a server. I’ll look into it and work on a fix as soon as possible.

Thanks for trying HapticTale and helping improve it!
