Better Salvaging overhauls the Salvage Workbench, allowing every item and block to be recycled. Some items will be broken down into their basic crafting materials, but many of the more "useless" items will be boken down into burnable scrap instead.

Burnable Scrap

Burnable Scrap is a new item added with Better Salvaging. Scrap is a basica item which most things can be broken down into. It has a fuel qulity of 2 (a stick has 4), but can be held in stacks of up to 500.

9 burnable scrap can be crafted into a Scrap Block, which has a fuel quality of 7, and can also be held in stacks of up to 500.

The idea behind this two items is it allows the Salvage Workbench to function like a garbage can, while still giving you some amount of benefit by giving a good fuel source. 

Salvage Workbench Upgrades:

There is now an upgrade to the salvage workbench, which expands its input slots up to 6, to allow you to recycle several types of item per bench, rather than waiting for every individual stack to finish.
