What's new

5.6.0 - Server Networks and Husbandry Rewards - 2026-10-28

Added

  • Dynamic icon configs can set PortraitDefault and a per-override Portrait: a higher-resolution UI texture that command and bonded panel cards show instead of the 64x64 item icon.
  • /tw debug get wander <role filter> lists every NPC whose role contains the filter with its state, position, leash point, distance to the leash point, and whether it stands in water. It works from the server console.
  • /tw debug set state <npc uuid> <state> sets an NPC's role state the way a command item does, so the role's state transitions run. It works from the server console.
  • /tw debug set target <npc uuid> [slot] points an NPC's target slot (MasterTarget by default) at its owner, as the Follow command does. It works from the server console.
  • Managed activity profiles can set Activities.OwnerKillCountsAsCull to true. An owned farm animal that its owner kills then gives its cull rewards instead of its normal drops, the same as a knife cull. Kills by other players are unchanged.
  • A cull's ManagedActivityView reports the animal's age stage (ageStage: juvenile, adult, prime or senior), so a progression mod can pay for animals raised to prime instead of culled straight after taming.
  • Mods can supply the cull rewards for an animal through the new husbandryRewardTables() API. A family listed in CullDropLists can leave its drop list blank when a mod supplies the rewards.
  • Server networks: a network mod can install a shared store (portableCompanions(), capability PORTABLE_COMPANION_STORE). Companions in capture items, stored, dead or lost then follow their owner to every server, and owner and group limits count the companions other servers hold. Without such a mod nothing changes.
  • /tw settings has a new section, Where Companions Can Come Out. Choose "everywhere except these places" or "only in these places", and list world names, server ids or server/world. In a blocked place companions cannot be released, summoned, recalled, revived, recovered, tamed or born, but capture items and stored companions still travel and can be traded there. Companions already out stay where they are. The list is saved in tamework-deploy-places.json, so a network can share one file.

Changed

  • A husbandry provider's bonusOutputChance and tripleOutputChance are now a real roll on each harvest and cull: the whole finished batch drops twice (three times with the triple chance) instead of a small flat yield increase. Because the double repeats the finished batch, it now multiplies tool, trait, size and age bonuses too.
  • A bucket harvest (milking) no longer creates filled buckets from nothing for its extra copies: each extra copy fills a spare empty bucket of the same kind from the inventory. When there is no spare bucket, the animal stays ready to be harvested again instead. A harvest's other drops, such as a cow's manure, share that harvest's double roll.
  • Culling an animal from the command menu now gives the same cull rewards as a knife cull when its family has managed cull rewards, and counts as a cull for other mods.

Fixed

  • Fixed players failing to join when Tamework had been unloaded or reloaded while the server kept running.
  • Animals stop growing again while they are in a capture item, stored, dead or lost, as before 5.0. They resume where they left off when released, summoned, revived or recovered.
  • A capture item that is newer than the server's copy of its companion (for example after restoring an old backup of the companion folder) is no longer emptied when it is used.
  • Species filters show species names (for example "Cow") instead of role ids such as tamed_cow, in the companion panel's filter picker and chips and in a command flute's tooltip.
