Insomnia - Cut Tutorial Quest & Endless Battle

This mod restores a feature from the original console games, that allowed players to jump straight into a little bit of gameplay while waiting for the game to install. Now however, players can experience it any time by booting the tutorial up from the title screen.

Originally, the game would load in and allow Noctis to fight against endless waves of goblins in front of the citadel, and they could choose to cancel at any time to return to the menu, and let the players know when the installation was complete.

Behind this fight was a fully separate tutorial quest line however, taking place with Carbuncle, Noctis and eventually the full party, which covered some basics of the game. These tutorial quests were fully complete, however never were loaded.

Three different installation packs are available with notes in the Files Tab.

Important Notes:

1) The newest version of the mod will auto-boot to the Quest or Battle, to prevent a visual bug that comes from Flagrum's inability to handle custom References correctly with the current patch system. The newer version was made to allow for a more complete version of the full city of Insomnia, beyond the original quest area, for users that want to explore the city at night and walk around the city itself. Its 99% complete, with only a couple of issues, such as it has to use the original chapter 14's collisions, so there will be some obstacles on the ground where the map used to have dead ends.

2) I still have a version of the Tutorial / endless battle to replace the main game's tutorial room. This allows it to still be enabled while playing the normal game, instead of needing to uninstall the mod to return to normal play. However, some assets may appear broken in the main game while using this version

3) I've also still left the version that wont have those issues, and just adds back the tutorial quest / endless battle, without replacing the main game here. Though this is the original older version before the rest of the city was restored.

Other Notes:

This is a port of PS4 assets that were never converted or released on console, so there were minor adjustments made. Such as attackID's were changed that were used as triggers to use the release version's attackIDs. And button prompts that required controllers to activate.

The city itself is different than EPA Insomnia, the mod will not require it either, though the environment is much smaller in order to play quicker and install less, it had fully functioning emissives in the windows of buildings at night. Its unlikely you will see the city at night during the tutorial, but night can be triggered / weather and time of day can all be modified with the Mod Menu.

Update 07/11/2025 - Expanded the city to load in more of the original surrounding area outside of the citadel, as well as collisions for those wanting to use this mod to explore Pre-Invasion Insomnia itself. This will require users to fly outside the arena using the various mods to enable god mode flying, or jump over using the Mod Menu's infinite jump to get over the invisible barrier around the citadel.
