Final Fantasy XV - Before the Storm

A return to the game's roots. Journey with the Royal Retinue in both story and mechanics as they were when the game launched.

Save files retain data that will be removed with this mod. It's best to create a new save folder when using the mod, but making a new save file will also work. This way, your saved data matches the game's actual contents after enabling the mod.

7/08/2025 - Fixed an issue with Prompto's Casual Outfit that incorrectly displayed shadowed textures present in his older model.

Optional version for Level 1 Max Level: Requires a new save for different level caps to go into effect.

This Mod reverts most changes that were made to the game over time. The changes being reverted are as follows:

The Ring of Lucii has been adjusted to its pre-patch status. The Death ability no longer deals damage, and most enemies' immunities to it have been restored. The Holy ability's damage output has been halved and its recovery time increased, while MP recovery per cast has decreased. The perfect Holy version triggered by a last-second dodge has been removed. The Alterna ability's chance of killing enemies has decreased and immunity has been restored to every enemy that had it.
Abilities across the board have been reverted as well as the Ascension grid, including the removal of Wait Mode Ascension tree. Rushlink system and its corresponding quest have been removed and the party can no longer swap leaders in combat, only allowing for the control of Noctis.
Damage and healing values, including number of attacks / effects, both passive and active, have been reverted to their 1.0 stats. (e.g Sword of the Tall attack frequency and various Machines)
The Insomnia City Ruins dungeon and new sidequests featuring enemies such as Cerberus, Omega, and the Rulers of Yore have been removed and reverted to their pre-royal edition state, including the return of Behemoth King and the somber musical score of Somnus that plays as you explore and fight in the original Insomnia map.
Ifrit's appearance has been reverted back to his non-scourge form used in early versions of the game and Shiva's voice and dialogue triggered after defeating Ifrit to its original 1.0 state. She now continues to speak in the Astral speech and the subtitles are also different than later versions of the game.
All previously available downloadable content from the season pass, pre-order, weapons, outfits, Regalia car skins, accessories, and item sets have been removed including Armiger Unleashed and the "Monster Whistle" summoning feature.
The Archives and local myths and legends have been removed, as well as galleries for obtained fish and recipes.
The Regalia Type-D and its accompanying quests have been removed as well. Players can no longer control the royal vessel boat or fish aboard it.
The shop from the Regalia has been reverted as well as access the main menu while the Regalia is in "Auto" mode.
The New Game Plus option, chapter select, and DLC have been removed.
The level cap has been decreased from 120 to 99
Removed the ability to listen to the in-game music player while riding a chocobo
Health no longer regenerates non-temporary damage outside of combat.
Crossover events with Terra Wars and Final Fantasy XIV and their associated items have been removed.
Scenes from Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and Omens Trailer that were added to the game have been removed.
The added Chapter 5 cutscene with Ardyn after the conclusion of the party's encounter with Titan has been removed. Chapter 13-2 has had its alternate route options with Gladiolus and Ignis removed, Succarpe in Chapter 10 has been reverted back as well, and chapter 12’s Vogliupe’s train sequence with Shiva has been reworked.
Timed quests and contests have been removed.
The photo contest display at Galdin Quay has been taken down, and players can no longer take manual snapshots in-game, only autosnapshots from Prompto.
Reverted Galdin Quay and Hammerhead to their 1.0 status, to ensure complete removal of the photo contest.
Noctis will no longer be able to warp outside of battle.
All mods using the Steam Workshop system have been removed, incidentally resulting in faster time to boot up the game, especially if paired with the Intro Skip mod.
Original ending post-credit cutscenes for both the final camp and the Royal Wedding have been restored with their original pre-rendered cutscenes, most notably the post-credit cutscene with Luna to its 1.0 status,
Jared flashbacks have been removed, restoring the original violin score of Meloncholia that played during that scene.
Wanderlust BGM has been reverted to the 1.0 version, featuring a different mastering of the track with notably less strong instrumentals at the start.
Optional version for Level 1 Max Level available for those wanting an additional challenge as Nixperience band wasn't included in this version of the game, this will cap the max level without the need to equip any items. Requires a new save for new level caps to go into effect.

Update 1/20/25

Crucial Bug Fix: Party members will now correctly take damage while in combat.
Minor Bug Fix: Field warping within combat will now properly work while being disabled out of combat. (Field warping is the non-targeted type of warping that lets Noctis teleport a short distance across the landscape, this is traditionally only disabled out of combat in version 1.0, but was erroneously disabled in combat as well)

Overall, this update is designed to revert various features and changes that players may have found changed the balance, story or pacing of the game in ways that altered the overall experience.

Note - Using this on an existing save will result in graphical issues as well as technical issues such as not respecting the change in level cap, for example lighting in ch14 Insomnia will be bugged in rest areas unless you use it on a save that hasn't been to ch14 Insomnia yet. If you are just wanting to see the older Insomnia, load a save in ch14 Hammerhead and enter Insomnia normally from there.

このアップデートでは、時間の経過とともにゲームに加えられたいくつかの変更を元に戻します。元に戻される変更は以下の通りです。

ルシの指輪は、パッチ前の状態に調整されました。死の能力はもはやダメージを与えず、ほとんどの敵の免疫も復元されました。ホーリーの能力のダメージ出力は半減され、回復時間は増加し、キャストごとのMP回復量は減少しました。最後の瞬間の回避でトリガーされる完全なホーリー版は削除されました。アルテルナの能力で敵を倒す可能性は減少し、免疫があったすべての敵に復元されました。
インソムニア市の廃墟のダンジョンや、ケルベロス、オメガ、ヨアの支配者などの敵をフィーチャーした新しいサイドクエストが削除され、ロイヤルエディション以前の状態に戻され、ベヒーモスキングも復活しました。
シーズンパス、プリオーダー、武器、衣装、レガリアカースキン、アクセサリー、アイテムセットなど、以前に利用可能だったすべてのダウンロードコンテンツが削除されました。アーカイブや地元の神話伝説も削除され、レガリアタイプDとそれに付随するクエストも削除されました。プレイヤーはもはやロイヤルバッセルボートを完全に制御したり、その上で釣りをすることはできず、アーマージャンルシュアクセサリーも削除されました。
フォトコンテストの展示はGaldin Quayから撤去され、プレイヤーはもうゲーム内で手動スナップショットを撮ることができず、Promptoからのオートスナップショットのみになりました。
