DireGriffin

This mysterious creature embodies the might of a giant eagle and the ferocity of a direwolf. Perhaps it's this untamed duality that has earned it the name DireGriffin.

Taming

Default is passive Taming but you can change it with the admin tool "gfid PrimalItem_DireGriffinSettings"
The options are: knockout tame; both; passive tame

Passive Taming Guide:

First kill a wild dino and drag it to the diregriffin
It will land next to the corp and will begin eating
During that phase passive taming is enabled and you can feed it
After doing that you will get a friend buff and it will not attack you for the duration of that buff. It will also follow you around until it decides a new target for you to attack.
This target is marked by a red cross on your HUD
You have to damage that dino until the cross turns green (happens at about 30 percent health)
After that the Diregriffin will trigger a dive attack and hopefully kill the dino. If not it will try again until the dino is dead but if the target is dead you can feed it again.
Note that when missing a feed you have to wait until the buff is gone to then drag another body to it. Taming will not reset!

Short summary:

First phase

Drag dead dino to Diregriffin
Feed it while it eats

Second phase

Diregriffin selects a target, bring HP down until cross turns green
It will then kill target
Feed it again
Successful? -> Diregriffin picks next target (jump to Second phase first line)

Knockout Requirements:

Minimum level: 30.
You must wear the Trike Skull Helmet to be worthy (get it from alpha rex).

Abilities

Normal Bite
Grab (Only in air): Can pick up creatures with drag weight less than 200.
Pack Roar: Buffs any owned Direwolf nearby and itself. In addition nearby wild direwolfs will join and help you against your enemy
Barrel Roll: Inflicts more damage than the normal bite.
Fear Roar: Causes fear in creatures with drag weight less than or equal to 200.
Courage Roar (Only on ground): Buffs any owned creature nearby.

Notice: When playing in singleplayer, buff effects might not display due to rendering issues. However, the buffs are still active despite not being visually represented.
